What Injury Will You Take Home? Braves 9, Dodgers 8
Kent: hit by pitch. Saenz: collision fielding a bunt. Furcal: collision at second. Repko: hit by a pitch on the arm. Loney: hit in the wrist by a line drive. Frank must have been watching this game through his outstretched fingers; so must the Dodgers trainers. The pitching was purely awful throughout, and while I won't say too much about Loney's .167 average, I note in passing it so far beats Saenz's .143.
The AAA boys may be excited about the possibilities of getting an early callup, but the way things are going, the Dodgers may need to think about callups from Jacksonville before long.
Comments:
Opening Day there was a cheaper chopper to Chipper Jones that he booted for an error. In Game 3 tonight Chipper was benched in favor of Wilson Betemit. Betemit was flawless in the field. Batting righthanded Wilson hit a two-run homer to left to tie the game 5-5 in the top of the third. Batting lefthanded Betemit hit a double off the centerfield fence in the seventh inning. Betemit came close to hitting switch-hit home runs in the same game. Atlanta has no shortage of switch-hitting third basemen. Perhaps Betemit is short for "Better Mitt?"
