I Leave The State And Look What Happens: Angels 7, Tigers 3
And then this.
Look, I find myself in an uncomfortable situation saying this (yes, little old drama queen me), but what. The. F. Did. You. Expect?
It's called a learning curve. The likelihood of any of these kids stepping, fully formed, like Jackie Robinson out of the womb is zero. Heck, even Jackie Robinson went hitless in his first game. Tim Salmon hit .177 in his first 23 major league games.
Chill, already.
Anyway, it appears to have been one heck of a game, all played while I was on the plane to Dallas; what a lift it was to crack open the phone and see the Angels had already won it, and the rookies leading the way. Not only did Three True Outcomes hero Mike Napoli homer in his first at bat (on a "welcome to the majors" breaking pitch that hung up in the zone), but Tommy Murphy went 2-4 after having gotten on the same plane. Kendrick had an RBI, f'r chrissakes. Kotchman homered.
It's all good, baby. It won't always be this good — we've tasted plenty of bad lately — but today, it was all good.
