2006-05-06: Tacoma 5, Salt Lake 4 #
Aybar, E: 1-4
Willits, R: 1-4, 1 K
McPherson: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K
Gorneault: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Mathis, J: 1-4, 1 K
Eylward: 1-4, 1 K
Specht: 1-3, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Weaver, Jer: 6.0 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 8 K, 1 BB, 3.34 ERA
Bland: (BS, 1)(L, 0-1) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 0 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 6.00 ERA
Jones: 2.0 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 6.75 ERA
Jered Weaver stumped the Rainiers through six and 101 pitches, but the bullpen erased all his good work as Nate Bland gave up the go-ahead run, keyed by an Asdrubal Cabrera (photo) home run. Dallas has a little three-game hitting streak going; yesterday's game was the first multi-hit game he's had since April 24. Mike Eylward played first while Kendry Morales DH'd.
2006-05-06: San Antonio vs. Arkansas: Cancelled: Rain #
The amount of rain that actually fell wasn't even enough to stop a game at Angel Stadium, but they don't take any chances when the radar was showing a system as scary bad as what was coming. With this game being the last between the two clubs this half, there will be no makeup game scheduled. The Travs open a four-game series against the Corpus Christi Hooks today.
2006-05-06: Rancho Cucamonga 8, Bakersfield 2 #
Rodriguez, S: 1-5, 2 K
Sutton: 2-5, 1 K
Remole: 2-5
Collins: 3-5, 1 RBI
Fuller: 2-5, 1 RBI, 2 K
Lopez: 4-5, 2 2B, 2 RBI
Johnson: 4-5, 3 2B, 4 RBI, 1 K
Toussaint: 0-4, 1 BB, 2 K
Rodriguez, F: (W, 3-2), 6.0 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 7 K, 4 BB, 4.68 ERA
Torres: 1.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 4.20 ERA
Jepsen: 1.0 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 3 BB, 4.26 ERA
The Angels have to be happy with Michael Collins' development. He's on a six-game hitting streak, and so far is striking out in only about 20% of his at bats. On the other hand, given that he's only had five walks this year, you have to temper your expectations a bit; but this is the Angels system. An excellent game, too, for Baltazar Lopez, who hasn't seen much use so far this year, appearing in only 11 games. The big offensive hero of the night, though, was Ben Johnson, who doubled three times and drove in four. Fernando Rodriguez got the win.
2006-05-06: Wisconsin 3, Cedar Rapids 2 #
Coon: 1-2, 3 BB
Statia: 0-5, 1 K
Trumbo: 1-5, 2 K
Madrigal: 0-4, 1 K
Marek: 7.2 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 6 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 2.75 ERA
Didjurgis: (L, 0-1) (in relief), 3.1 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 0.92 ERA
Tim Didjurgis picked a bad time to give up a run. Still, he's got one teensy ERA, and you've gotta love his strikeout rate.
2006-05-06: AZL Angels did not play
2006-05-06: Orem did not play
2006-05-06: Las Vegas 3, Colorado Springs 8 #
Valdez: 0-3, 2 BB
Garcia: 1-4, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 BB
Aybar: 1-5, 2 K
Guzman, J: 1-4
Young, D: 0-4, 1 K
Loney: 0-4, 2 K
Weber, J: 2-4
Bellorin, E: 3-4
Eckert: (L, 1-1), 6.0 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 5 K, 4 BB, 1 HR, 6.00 ERA
Reid: 1.2 IP, 4 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 8.79 ERA
Baseball's win-loss rules for pitchers are so often unfair, and this game is an example of why. Harold Eckert only gave up three earned runs over six innings — a quality start — but the game really got out of reach when Justin Reid gave up four runs in one inning.
2006-05-06: Jacksonville 11, Birmingham 5 (Completed Early: Other) #
Hu: 1-5
Abreu: 2-4, 1 BB
Kemp: 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 K
LaRoche: 2-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Zapp: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 K
Ellis: 2-4, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 1 K
Raglani: 2-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI
Lundberg: (W, 4-1), 7.0 IP, 3 ER, 8 H, 3 K, 2 BB, 2.48 ERA
Barons manager Chris Cron pulled his team in the eighth, losing by forfeit following three bench-clearing incidents, "inside" pitches galore, and catcalls from both dugouts. It probably took some courage to do that; nobody likes losing that way, but they were getting stomped anyway.
2006-05-06: Dunedin 7, Vero Beach 2 #
Dewitt: 1-4, 1 K
Dunlap: 1-3, 1 RBI
Denker, T: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Paul, X: 0-4, 3 K
Russ: 0-2, 2 BB, 1 K
Hoffmann: 3-4
Pimentel: 4.0 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 4 K, 5 BB, 4.11 ERA
Wright: 3.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 4 K, 2 BB, 2.38 ERA
Wilson: (L, 1-2) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 5 ER, 4 H, 2 K, 3 BB, 1 HR, 5.84 ERA
A tie game until the eighth, when Kyle Wilson gave up the go-ahead runs.
2006-05-06: Columbus 12, Kannapolis 7 #
May: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
De Jesus: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 BB, 1 K
Pedroza: 0-0, 3 BB
Mitchell: 3-4, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 1 BB
Mooneyham: 2-5, 1 2B, 2 RBI
Locke: 2-5, 1 3B, 5 RBI, 1 K
Sutherland: 2-3, 1 2B, 2 BB
Carter, B: 0-3, 2 BB, 1 K
McDonald: 4.0 IP, 3 ER, 1 HR, 4.64 ERA
Castillo: (W, 3-1) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 3.72 ERA
Columbus never trailed in this wild game, scoring four runs in the first. Russell Mitchell and Andrew Locke were the big heroes of the day, driving in a combined eight RBI and going a collective 5-9.
2006-05-06: GCL Dodgers did not play
2006-05-06: Ogden did not play
