- The Angels are
tiring of the consequences of their youth movement, and Mike
Scioscia has suggested changes are coming.
"Necessity is the mother of invention at times," Scioscia said. "We've seen Howie Kendrick come up here, Mike Napoli come up. We're going to look at some things to see where we're able to improve right now. If some combination looks appealing, we'll consider it."
- Howie Kendrick is hitting .130/.231/.130 in 23 at bats, so Matt Hurst calls on the Angels to trade for a hitter. Geesh.
- Russ Martin's having a fine time as a catcher in the show:

Helen and I were talking about how you can find baseball caps in pink for every major league team these days, and just so; no team uses it as part of their colors. The Times has an article about how this change has come about, driven mostly by women who want logo-laden gear without the maleness. And it's not just baseball: the NBA and NASCAR are also seeing increased sales thanks to paying attention to their female customers.

Doesn't seem like the Angels have much left to trade, since their youngsters' trade values have been slip-sliding away with their poor stats.
