2006-06-06: Salt Lake 3, Fresno 2 #
Willits, R: 0-5
Izturis: 0-4, 1 BB
Kendrick, H: 2-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K
Gorneault: 2-3, 1 BB
Eylward: 1-3, 1 RBI
Pavkovich: 0-2, 2 BB
Colon: 4.2 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 3.86 ERA
Bland: (W, 2-2) (in relief), 1.1 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 6.38 ERA
Bulger: (H, 2), 1.2 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 4.01 ERA
"Bees Win In Relief Of Colon" reads the execrable headline at MILB.com, with not a word about Colón's velocity; my guess based on tonight's results is that it's still pretty far down, which can only lead to further nailbiting about how he'll fare once he returns to the big club, and who gets knocked back down to the minor league level to make room for the Angels' Cy Young winner. Those results included a home run surrendered to the junk drawer filling that Paul DePodesta acquired, Jose Flores, and a triple to Dan Ortmeier followed up by an RBI groundout. Only two strikeouts, though, Bart?

Jason Bulger relieved Matt Wilhite, and got the Bees out of a second and third, one-out scenario without any runs scoring. Greg Jones collected his fifth save of the year.

Dallas McPherson Alert: Howie Kendrick returned to second base; he's played third base three times since returning to Salt Lake.

2006-06-06: Arkansas 8, Tulsa 6 #
Peel, A: 2-5, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K
Wood: 2-5, 2 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Brown: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Wilson: 1-5, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2 K
Pali: 2-4
Porter: 3-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI
Rodriguez, R: (W, 2-4), 5.0 IP, 4 ER, 6 H, 3 K, 5 BB, 2 HR, 8.60 ERA
Wow, another win. Rafael Rodriguez didn't pitch terribly effectively, but the day-long thunderstorms that cancelled batting practice didn't seem to have any effect on the Travs' power. Aaron Peel and Matt Brown both homered, and Brandon Wood went 2-5 with a pair of doubles. Rich Thompson pitched three effective innings, giving up only one earned run on three hits and a walk; Miguel Gonzalez got the save, his second.
2006-06-06: Rancho Cucamonga 0, Visalia 3 #
Rodriguez, S: 0-4, 2 K
Collins: 0-3, 1 K
Lopez: 1-1
Toussaint: 0-3, 1 K
Arredondo: (L, 3-4), 7.0 IP, 3 ER, 3 H, 6 K, 3 BB, 1 HR, 2.21 ERA
Torres: 1.0 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 4.56 ERA
Tough luck loss for Jose Arredondo, who took the loss despite posting a quality start. Jonathan Barratt pitched a complete game shutout, the first delivered at Recreation Park in three years.
2006-06-06: Cedar Rapids 0, Quad Cities 2 #
Statia: 1-5, 1 K
Trumbo: 0-4, 1 K
Mosebach: 8.0 IP, 0 ER, 2.85 ERA
Didjurgis: (L, 0-3) (in relief), 2.1 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 3 BB, 1 HR, 3.38 ERA
Bobby Mosebach struck out five through eight scoreless innings but didn't stick around long enough; the game continued in a scoreless tie until Tim Didjurgis gave up a walk-off two-run homer in the 12th to Casey Rowlett.
2006-06-06: AZL Angels did not play
2006-06-06: Orem did not play
2006-06-06: Las Vegas 6, Sacramento 5 #
Izturis: 2-4, 1 BB
Loney: 1-3, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Young, D: 0-2, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Weber, J: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Eckert: (W, 4-1), 5.1 IP, 5 ER, 6 H, 5 K, 4 BB, 1 HR, 5.76 ERA
Miller: (H, 2), 1.1 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 K, 2 BB, 0.00 ERA
Izturis had a multi-hit night in the leadoff spot and James Loney homered in the win. Harold Eckert tried mightily to give up a four-run lead in the sixth inning, but was prevented by a fine performance by Greg Miller, who inherited a man on third and one out. That man (John Baker) scored, but Eric Hull and Lance Carter (who now has a 0.71 ERA in 12.1 IP) made it stand up. The win concluded a four-game sweep of the River Cats in Sacramento, payback for a sweep of Las Vegas at home earlier in the year.
2006-06-06: Mobile 6, Jacksonville 8 #
Ruan: 2-5, 1 RBI
Abreu: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K
Brazell: 1-5, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K
LaRoche: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 BB
Meadows: 0-3, 2 BB, 1 K
Rohan: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 BB
Raglani: 0-0, 1 BB
Alvarez, C: (W, 4-1) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 4.31 ERA
Down 6-4 in the seventh, the Suns rallied on a two-run homer by Craig Brazell, and two more RBIs by Justin Ruggiano and Brad Cresse. Starter Spike Lundberg gave up six earned runs, losing the league lead in ERA (though entirely still respectable at 2.64 ERA).
2006-06-06: Brevard County 0, Vero Beach 2 #
Paul, X: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Dewitt: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Dunlap: 0-2, 2 BB, 1 K
Denker, T: 0-2, 1 BB
Hoffmann: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Elbert: 5.0 IP, 0 ER, 5 H, 7 K, 2 BB, 2.81 ERA
Wright: (W, 3-2) (in relief), 3.0 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 1.19 ERA
Brevard and Vero traded zero frames through seven and a half, when Vero finally broke through in the bottom of the eighth. Great pitching performances on both sides.
2006-06-06: Savannah 1, Columbus 7 #
De Jesus: 2-4, 1 2B
Pedroza: 3-4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K
May: 3-4, 1 3B, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Alvarez: (W, 4-5), 6.0 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 5 K, 1 BB, 4.45 ERA
A trouncing by the Catfish, who uncorked a couple homers by Sergio Pedroza and Lucas May to get the win.
2006-06-06: GCL Dodgers did not play
2006-06-06: Ogden did not play

Comments:
I'm on record as being skeptical of Bart's health and whether he'll be able to contribute this year.

If he needs something fixed, he should have it fixed now and hopefully be back by the beginning of 2007.

He had 3+ months to heal from October to the WBC. If that didn't do it, I don't see how another six weeks will do it, and his results thus far seem to indicate that he hasn't progressed.

Re: Arredondo, I want to see this kid pitch someday; and Adenhart when he makes it up to Rancho.
