Scores

2006-06-12: Fresno 6, Salt Lake 5 #
Aybar: 1-5, 1 3B, 1 K
Willits, R: 0-3, 2 BB
Kendrick, H: 1-5, 2 K
Gorneault: 2-4, 1 3B, 2 RBI, 1 K
Mathis, J: 2-2, 1 2B, 2 BB
Eylward: 0-4, 1 RBI
Pavkovich: 3-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Colon: (L, 0-1), 7.0 IP, 6 ER, 9 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 3 HR, 6.17 ERA
Bland: 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 4 K, 0 BB, 6.00 ERA
That Didn't Go So Well Dep't: Bartolo Colón got blasted, giving up six earned runs and three homers. Despite it, the Angels have all but handed Jered Weaver his return ticket to Salt Lake following his start tomorrow. Howie Kendrick still — barely — has a batting average over .400 (.401) following today's game, but at least he keeps his hit streak alive, with 10 consecutive games. Jeff Mathis and Nick Gorneault both had good games with the bat, as did Adam Pavkovich.
2006-06-12: Arkansas 2, Springfield 3 #
Wood: 1-2, 1 2B, 2 BB
Wilson: 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 K
Bacon: 1-1, 2 BB
Hunter: (L, 1-6), 7.0 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 2 HR, 7.29 ERA
Just got outpitched. A good game for the Travs, though.
2006-06-12: Rancho Cucamonga 5, High Desert 6 #
Sandoval, F: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Rodriguez, S: 2-5, 2 K
Toussaint: 2-5, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 3 K
Rodriguez, F: 6.0 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 4 K, 2 BB, 4.60 ERA
DeLoizaga-Carney: (BS, 4)(L, 1-3) (in relief), 2.2 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 4.06 ERA
With the score tied in the bottom of the ninth, Kevin Lynch walked the bases loaded and then uncorked a wild pitch to give up the walkoff run. Blecch. Some good offensive performances by Sean Rodriguez, Freddy Sandoval, and Drew Toussaint were squandered in the loss.
2006-06-12: Fort Wayne 3, Cedar Rapids 4 #
Statia: 0-2, 2 BB
Martinez: 1-2, 2 BB
Trumbo: 1-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Infante: 1-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Mendoza: (W, 4-5), 9.0 IP, 3 ER, 7 H, 7 K, 1 BB, 2 HR, 5.11 ERA
That's why they paid Trumbo the big bucks: Trumbo's solo homer and dramatic ninth-inning groundout provided two of the team's runs; Larry Infante had a two-run jack that decided the game as part of a three-run ninth that turned around a game in which the Kernels hadn't led — until the end. Tommy Mendoza provided another fine game, tossing a complete game in nine frames.
2006-06-12: AZL Angels did not play
2006-06-12: Orem did not play
2006-06-12: Colorado Springs 1, Las Vegas 10 #
Izturis: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Navarro: 0-5, 2 K
Loney: 4-5, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI
LaRoche: 2-4, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Young, D: 3-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Weber, J: 2-2, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB
Miller: 0-1, 1 K
Eckert: (W, 5-1), 6.0 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 5 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 5.34 ERA
Miller: 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
Deuces are wild, as Vinny might say; the 51's scored two runs in five innings, four of them consecutive from the fourth through the seventh. Three homers from Andy LaRoche, Jon Weber, and James Loney helped out. Another strong relief performance from Greg MIller, who has yet to give up an earned run in 10.2 IP.
2006-06-12: Jacksonville did not play
2006-06-12: Vero Beach vs. Brevard County: Postponed: Rain #
2006-06-12: Columbus 6, Savannah 5 #

Pedroza: 3-5, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K
Mooneyham: 2-4, 1 K
Sutherland: 3-4, 1 2B, 1 BB
Justis: 1-3, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K

Troncoso: 2.0 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 1.29 ERA
Another win for the streaking Catfish, who are 7-4 on the month.
2006-06-12: GCL Dodgers did not play
2006-06-12: Ogden did not play

Comments:
Just got back from the 51s game tonight and the guy to watch out for is the 2002 first round Dodger pick Greg Miller, who pitched two perfect innings of relief. I really liked how he plowed through those six hitters, too, because he managed a few strike outs through sheer high heat, through movement, with the change up, and he induced a few tame ground outs.

Checking out his numbers from rookie ball to Double-A, he seems to have destroyed the lower minors. His WHIP hovering around 1.00, his ERA at 2.20, about 9 strikeouts per 9 innings, and more than 200 strikeouts with less than 90 walks. His numbers so far in Las Vegas are a little more pedestrian, but he's 21 years old, he looked unstoppable tonight against AAA bats.

He may not be ready for Chavez Ravine THIS year, but Greg Miller should definately be in the mix for the Dodger bullpen eventually.

I seem to remember that Miller at one time was considered a starting prospect, but he had shoulder surgery and his star dimmed considerably.
