News
- Scott Elbert pitched a scoreless frame in the Florida State League All-Star game; the West Division All-Stars won, 7-4.
- Padres AAA affiliate Portland Beavers has been sold. In a move reminiscent of the Montreal Expos, the PCL had assumed operation of the franchise prior to the 2004 season.
- Mike Scioscia added to the confusion over the Angels' rotation by saying of Bartolo Colón's reappearance that
"Right now, this is the best solution until things settle," manager Mike Scioscia said. "Jered is going to hopefully be part of our rotation for a long time, and it could happen a lot sooner than some people anticipate."
"Settle"? - Andy LaRoche has suffered a "setback", which means he's having labrum trouble. More at Jon's.

And given the way the Travs have been
playing this year, it's probably best, because they can't lose a
rainout.
