Scores

2006-06-21: Sacramento 2, Salt Lake 8 #
Aybar: 1-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Willits, R: 1-3, 1 BB, 2 K
Murphy: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI
Kendrick, H: 2-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI

Saunders: (W, 8-3), 7.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 7 H, 6 K, 0 BB, 2.50 ERA
Howie strike! A serious hiding of the River Cats by Salt Lake, Howie Kendrick is now only hitting .398, in addition to his homer. Erick Aybar also homered, a two-run shot. The win was the Bees' ninth straight victory. Chris Bootcheck, pitching in relief, set the franchise career strikeout mark at 332, surpassing Mark Redman.
2006-06-21: Arkansas did not play
2006-06-21: Lake Elsinore 6, Rancho Cucamonga 3 #
Collins: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Rodriguez, S: 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 K
Toussaint: 0-4, 1 K
Arredondo: (L, 4-6), 7.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 H, 8 K, 3 BB, 1 HR, 2.20 ERA
Torres: 0.1 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 H, 0 K, 2 BB, 6.08 ERA
Jose Arredondo pitched another gem, but the offense was unable to help him, as Lake Elsinore five-hit the Quakes. Joe Torres and the rest of the Quakes' bullpen also suffered a collapse, as Torres gave up two earned runs while recording only a single out. Mike Pete gave up an additional pair of runs in the ninth.
2006-06-21: Cedar Rapids did not play
2006-06-21: Orem 1, Ogden 14 #
Mount: 0-4
Pettit: 0-2, 2 BB
Phillips: 1-2
Ortega: (L, 0-1), 4.1 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 4 K, 2 BB, 2.08 ERA
Arredondo: 1.2 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
Revenge for yesterday's game; the Arredondo here is Felipe. Tons of substitutions, which explains P.J. Phillips brief outing.
2006-06-21: AZL Angels did not play
2006-06-21: Las Vegas 1, Tucson 5 #
Valdez: 2-4
Loney: 0-4, 1 K
Young, D: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Navarro: 1-2, 1 2B, 1 BB
Lundberg: (L, 0-2), 4.0 IP, 5 R, 5 ER, 10 H, 5 K, 1 BB, 9.00 ERA
Hull: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 3.46 ERA
The 51's have been doing a lot of losing lately. Having to plug guys like Lundberg in against real competition isn't helping. Delwyn Young was halfway to a cycle, missing the single and triple.
2006-06-21: Montgomery 0, Jacksonville 11 #
Hu: 1-5, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Abreu: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Zapp: 2-4, 1 K
Langill: 3-4, 3 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K
Totten: (W, 7-2), 9.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 5 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 3.27 ERA
Wowee wow wow, what a shelling. All the scoring happened in the second and third, including Chin-Lung Hu's three-run blast, and back-to-back two-run doubles by Eric Langill and Wilkin Ruan. Heath Totten had a five-hit complete game shutout.
2006-06-21: Jupiter 9, Vero Beach 1 #
Paul, X: 2-5
Dewitt: 0-4, 1 BB, 1 K
Dunlap: 0-2, 2 BB, 1 K
Raglani: 2-4
Hoffmann: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K
Wilson: (L, 1-4), 3.0 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 5 H, 1 K, 3 BB, 3.41 ERA
Elbert: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 4 K, 0 BB, 2.57 ERA
Hammes: 3.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 5 K, 1 BB, 4.34 ERA
Pimentel: 1.0 IP, 4 R, 2 ER, 4 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 4.28 ERA
Starter Scott Elbert was called in to restore order in this game; the Hammerheads posted a four-run ninth to cap the affair. Vero committed six errors to help out Jupiter, but only three of the runs were unearned.
2006-06-21: Columbus did not play
2006-06-21: Orem 1, Ogden 14 #
Rogowski: 2-4, 1 BB, 1 K
Fuller: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Perez: 3-4, 3 RBI, 1 BB
Taloa: 1-3, 2 BB
Jensen: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 HR, 6 RBI
Wall: (W, 1-0), 5.2 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 3 BB, 1.59 ERA
11th-round draftee Justin Fuller went 2-3, but the real story was 22nd-rounder and former Bruin Chris Jensen, who drove in six all by his little self, including an eighth-inning grand slam.
2006-06-21: GCL Dodgers 16, GCL Mets 8 #
Rosario: 3-6, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Lizarraga: 3-6
Ortiz: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Jansen: 0-1, 1 RBI, 3 BB
Garcia: 3-5, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Mathews: 3-4, 1 2B, 5 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K
Robinson: 1-3, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K
Melgarejo: (W, 1-0), 5.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 3.60 ERA
Pujols: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
The hitters had it, as the Dodgers scored in crooked numbers in five of the nine innings of this contest, outhitting the Mets 16-5. Mets starter Angel Calero absorbed ten earned runs of punishment in only 2.1 IP. 25th-round draftee Brian Mathews drove in five in this slaughter, but there were plenty of other guys with sublime RBI totals, too.

BTW, nice work from the guys at the league office for getting this game's stats in on time. Let's hope we see more of that.

Comments:
I made the trek out to Rancho to catch the action this evening. Sat directly behind home plate, 4th row up, amongst a bevvy of scouts.

Arredondo has 3.5 effective pitches, highlighted by a very good fastball - consistently 94, but he touched 95 and even 96 in the 7th inning. One scout said he was consistently at 96 in his last outing. But more importantly, his ball has movement. It's generally not a straight fastball.

He also mixed in a change, slider and even a splitter (one particularly wicked one for a called 3rd strike to end the third, I believe).

He made a couple of mistakes over the plate, which were hit hard (one of them left the yard). His control was a bit off - he walked three - but was plagued by a terribly inconsistent strike zone (all of the scouts seemed to agree on this one). Lake Elsinore's starter was Woody Williams, on a rehab assignment. The home plate ump was much more generous to the major-league veteran.

I'll post more about the game in a diary over at HH.
