More Angels PR

"Angels: Permission given to trade prospects" quoth the headline, but the key to this article is in its final paragraph:
"A lot of it was out of the blue sky," Stoneman said. "The one important thing is we all came away with an understanding not to limit our thinking."
Meaning, the Angels will let another trade deadline pass while passing at the limited trade options out there. And that, my friends, is a good thing.

Comments:
Any idea when Kotchman is supposed to be back?

Last I heard anything, there's no set date.

A playoff appearance this year seem far fetched. Why trade for someone who will be a free agent at the end of the year? Get Kotchman, Morales and Kendrick at bats this year and after the season reload for 2007.

Even if it's for the mythical Cabrera?

The "mythical Cabrera" is not a rent-a-player. I think Thomas was cautioning against jettisoning Kendrick for someone like Soriano, who'll be a FA in November.
