Don't Look Now, But The Canary's Dead: Rockies 12, Dodgers 9

Brett Tomko is confused by his recent lack of success:
"My last two starts, I've felt good, but when I make a mistake, I'm not getting away with it," Tomko said. "I've gone through the gamut. Am I tipping? Showing something? I get a guy in a crucial situation, and if I make a mistake, they get it every time. I'm not missing spots by a lot. Right now, it's pretty frustrating. I kind of want to scream a little bit and take out the frustration. It's not a lot of fun. Bad breaks are killing me."
Or, maybe it's the fact that you suck and you always have. Whatever good the Dodgers have gotten out of Tomko has come to an abrupt end, and of course there's no talk of trading him to a team needing a fifth starter. The Dodgers are practically a Quickie Mart full of untradeable fifth starters, but as always, there's only one Chad Billingsley, and unless they figure out a way to get him to stop throwing so many damned pitches and/or have him work three days straight, the Dodgers still have to run Odalis Perez and Aaron Sele out there every fifth day, too.

J.D. Drew apparently took himself out of today's lineup. Whether that's just another case of him being an alleged baby about his injuries or merely taking a smart and long-term view of his health is another story, one we'll never know the answer to. Considering Gagné's flirtation with the DL in no small part to his apparent idiotic bravado, the Dodgers can ill-afford to second guess him.

Comments:
The Canary's Dead.

That is the all-time best headline for a game summary I have ever read.
