Angels Move Jeff Weaver To Cardinals

The Angels traded Jeff Weaver to the St. Louis Cardinals for minor league outfielder Terry Evans (2006 stats).
Evans, 24, was a 47th-round draft pick in 2001 who was slow to advance through the Cardinals system until a breakout this year. He began the year at Class A Palm Beach before earning a promotion to Double-A Springfield. In 81 games combined between the two levels, he is hitting .310 with 22 home runs, 65 RBIs and 26 steals in 28 chances.
Also via ESPN.

Update: And AP.

Update 2: Evans really likes his home park in very small sample sizes, with a .414/.500/1.103 line at home but a .200/.222/.360 line on the road.

Comments:
Rob, were those his splits at A or AA ball?

Seems like a decent enough pickup; about the best that they could have hoped for, given WTE's suckage this year.

Thing is, if he had a quality start his last time out, I bet they would have done better.

Those would be his Springfield AA at bats.

Pretty hard to generalize from 6 or 7 games on the road.

All things considering, this is a decent gamble of a pickup. They aimed right in any case: a centerfielder showing some power.
