But... Howie Can't Pitch! Kendrick Up, Escobar To DL

Howie Kendrick has been called up and Kelvim Escobar sent down to the 15-day DL with an irritation of the elbow, retroactive to July 7. Also via Ken Rosenthal.

This move just doesn't make any sense unless the Angels plan on giving Kendrick until July 22 to find his stroke. They haven't announced who will take Escobar's turn in the rotation, but something has to happen as there's no days off between now and the Cleveland series, where he would get the start against Cliff Lee on Tuesday.

Comments:
Please, someone, anyone, get management some Med Alert bracelets. They've fallen and they can't get up!

Joe Saunders, where are you?

The product you're thinking of has changed. The new name is Life Alert. The punchline has remained the same to get the yuk.

Kendrick comes up now. On July 22nd, either Escobar will be ready (doubtful if he is truly suffering from any type of ailment) or Joe Saunders will be recalled. Erick Aybar will go down (this is my prediction only). It just makes more sense to bring up Kendrick now as opposed to Saunders, since the latter won't be needed until the 22nd.

The news about Myspacecobar is disturbing. He sure looked fine against the Dodgers, less so against Oakland. Let's hope it's nothing more than a bit of irritation and no real injury. Sometimes that happens; Paul Byrd actually spent some time on the DL last year, even though he didn't suffer any injury, and was more than fine once he returned.

Carrasco, maybe?

BRING BACK WEAVER!!!!!

But, Jered's already on the big club roster...

Escobar's elbow can't be too bad. Before tonight's game, he was in left field during batting practice shagging flys, throwing, and going through his pitching motion (although without a ball).
