Wilhite, M: (L, 2-2) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 3.86 ERA
Howie Kendrick didn't do too much, Jeff Mathis homered, and the bullpen couldn't hold the River Cats. Nothing to see here. Move on.
2006-06-30: Tulsa 7, Arkansas 14 #
Bacon: 0-3, 2 BB
Peel, A: 4-5, 2 2B, 5 RBI, 1 K
Wood: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Brown: 3-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI
Wilson: 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Haynes: 0-3, 2 BB, 1 K
Pali: 2-5
Rodland: 3-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Smith, J: (W, 5-8), 6.1 IP, 5 R, 5 ER, 9 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 4.29 ERA
Zimmermann: 1.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 H, 0 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 7.85 ERA
Jesse Smith got the win despite an unimpressive pitching performance; Aaron Peel once more stole the show, going 4-5 with 5 RBIs. Eric Rodland also had a fine night, going 3-4 and driving in a pair.
2006-06-30: Inland Empire 4, Rancho Cucamonga 9 #
Rodriguez, S: 1-3, 2 BB
Collins: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBI
Reilly: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K
Toussaint: 2-4, 1 K
Fuller: 3-4, 2 2B
Arredondo: (W, 5-6), 8.0 IP, 4 R, 3 ER, 8 H, 7 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 2.30 ERA
I guess they decided to let him pitch his last game in the Quakes' rotation tonight before promoting him to AA. A fine swan song to Ranch, with Michael Collins and Patrick Reilly both homering. Plenty of other good offense going on here, too.
2006-06-30: Dayton 4, Cedar Rapids 8 #
Coon: 3-5, 1 2B, 1 3B
Infante: 4-5, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 K
Statia: 2-2, 3 BB
Renz: 2-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Trumbo: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Davies: 0-5, 4 K
Mosebach: (W, 5-4), 9.0 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 9 H, 7 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 3.28 ERA
A complete game for Bobby Mosebach, who accumulated a winning record with the victory. Flint Wipke and Jordan Renz got consecutive bases-loaded walks in the first inning to score two of the team's three runs; along the way, Dayton pitching coach Larry Pierson was ejected by home plate umpire Brad Purdom, probably for arguing balls and strikes.

It wasn't all fun and games, though, as Mosebach allowed a run on a scoring balk and hit a batter; it didn't much matter, though, as the Kernels never trailed in this one. Two Dragons errors resulted in only one unearned run for Cedar Rapids.

2006-06-30: Orem 5, Ogden 4 #
Mount: 0-6, 1 RBI, 3 K
Rivera: 2-5, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Gronkowski: 3-3, 1 BB
Bourjos: 4-6, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Bell: 5.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 2.81 ERA
Incinelli: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
Holler: (W, 2-1) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 1.80 ERA
Trevor Bell did pretty well, but high-risk/high-reward guy Ryan Mount has been pretty light on the latter. To maximize confusion or possibly the number of similarly-named spare parts lying around, the Angels have another pitcher named Arredondo under their control, one Felipe Arredondo, who has yet to surrender an earned run in nine innings of work.

Game's end was rather dramatic, as the Owlz tied it up in the top of the 9th only to have Ogden re-tie it in their half of that frame. Both teams traded goose eggs for another three innings, and then Peter Bourjos plated Ryan Rogowski on an RBI single in the top of the 13th. Things started looking grim for the Owlz when two consecutive fielding errors by third baseman Douglas Reinhardt put men on first and second with nobody out, but Felipe Arredondo did his best impression of Jose Arredondo and struck out the side to end the threat.

2006-06-30: AZL Angels 4, AZL Mariners 5 #
Conger: 0-2, 1 BB
Castillo: 2-4, 1 3B, 1 RBI, 2 K
Fuller: 2-3, 1 BB
Schoeninger: 5.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
Chile: (L, 0-1) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 12.00 ERA
God bless the Chile who has his own... well, not really, as I'm quite certain Eduardo Chile pronounces his last name in the usual way for Spanish surnames. He sure didn't have it last night, as he gave up a walkoff, leadoff homer to Carlos Peguero.
2006-06-30: Tucson 8, Las Vegas 9 #
Loney: 3-4, 2 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Guzman: 2-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Riggs: 2-4, 2 RBI
Young, D: 1-4, 1 RBI
Robles: 1-3
Aybar: 0-1, 1 BB
Osoria: (W, 2-1) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 4.43 ERA
Carrara: 1.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 5.01 ERA
James Loney's 3-4 night was highlighted by a two-run dinger in the sixth, but the real damage came in the six-run eighth, an inning in which he led off and finished as the 51's batted around. A fielding error by Edwin Bellorin helped to keep the inning alive and allowed three unearned runs to score against Tucson closer Casey Daigle, who was charged with a blown save and the loss.

The 51's would need every one of those runs, as the Sidewinders got two runs off a single and a Kenny Perez homer off Giovanni Carrara. Poor Gio, he's looking worse and worse every time I see him.

2006-06-30: Jacksonville 1, Chattanooga 4 #
Hu: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Brazell: 2-4, 2 K
Meadows: 0-2, 2 BB, 1 K
Abreu: 0-4, 1 K
Muegge: (L, 6-6), 5.0 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 9 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 4.19 ERA
Akin: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
The Lookouts led from the first inning on as Chattanooga four-hit the Suns.
2006-06-30: Daytona 5, Vero Beach 4 #
Paul, X: 0-5, 2 K
Dewitt: 1-3, 1 RBI, 2 BB
Raglani: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 BB
Dunlap: 1-2, 1 RBI, 2 BB
Hoffmann: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 K
Figueroa: 5.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 8.10 ERA
Megrew: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 0.93 ERA
Diaz: (BS, 1)(L, 0-1) (in relief), 1.2 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 4.76 ERA
Pimentel: 0.1 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 K, 1 BB, 4.41 ERA
The Cubs trailed until the top of the ninth, when Jose Diaz gave up three runs, necessitating Julio Pimentel's entry to the game. Vero rallied for a run in the bottom of the ninth, but it wasn't enough.
2006-06-30: Columbus 3, Savannah 6 #
Godwin: 2-4
De Jesus: 1-5
Mitchell: 1-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K
Denker, T: 0-2, 2 BB
Pfeiffer: (L, 1-2), 5.2 IP, 5 R, 4 ER, 7 H, 3 K, 5 BB, 4.53 ERA
Pratt: 2.1 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 5.32 ERA
Savannah scored four in the second and never looked back; Columbus took advantage of a fielding error by first baseman Scott Shade and scored an unearned run.
2006-06-30: Orem 5, Ogden 4 #
Bell: 1-6, 2 K
Taloa: 1-6, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Medero-Stullz: 2-2, 1 BB
Rodriguez, J: 5.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 H, 6 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 2.25 ERA
Brooks: 1.2 IP, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 1.17 ERA
Ramirez: 2.1 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 5 K, 1 BB, 3.68 ERA
White: (L, 1-1) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 3.38 ERA
Joshua Bell singled against Trevor Bell; Rick Taloa's three-run homer was one of three RBIs for the Raptors.
2006-06-30: GCL Dodgers 3, GCL Marlins 0 #
Alvarez, N: 2-4
Mattingly: 1-3, 1 BB
Ortiz: 1-1, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Kershaw: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
Gracia: (W, 1-0) (in relief), 7.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 4 K, 0 BB, 1.46 ERA
Clayton Kershaw's inaugural appearance; he pitched two innings as part of a tandem start, and Mario Gracia went the rest of the way. Both teams traded zero frames until the ninth, when the Dodgers posted all three runs following a Preston Mattingly single, a Kenley Jansen walk, and a pinch-hit homer from Jaime Ortiz. Mattingly made an inconsequential fielding error in the fourth that allowed Kenley Jansen to reach.
