Pride: 1-3, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 2 K

Aspito: 2-5, 1 RBI, 1 K
Myers: 3-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI
Heaverlo: (L, 2-4), 3.0 IP, 6 R, 5 ER, 5 H, 6 K, 4 BB, 5.87 ERA
Rouwenhorst: 2.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 4.40 ERA
Jeff Heaverlo was a sad story with the M's organization, and his time at Salt Lake isn't looking like it will have any better ending. Mike Rouse homered off Jonathan Rouwenhorst, a grand slam whose runners (save for Rouse) were put on by Heaverlo, one thanks to his own fielding error, and so he escapes with one fewer earned run than otherwise.

Torres: 0.2 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 H, 0 K, 3 BB, 6.90 ERA
Nick Adenhart's Cal League debut, and it was a pretty good one. Not great, but when Rich and I entered the park, we both noticed the flags blowing stiffly in the hot, 20 MPH breeze to right and concluded that this could be a high scoring game, especially if one side or another packed the lineup with lefties. Sure enough, the switch-hitting Ben Johnson, working from the left side of the plate against a right-hander, pounded a pair over the right-field fence, giving Adenhart plenty of ammunition to win his first start with Rancho. More on this later, to be sure.

Aldridge: (BS, 4)(L, 1-3) (in relief), 0.2 IP, 2 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 3.19 ERA
Well, it looked like Mark Trumbo had maybe made some progress with his hitting, but that was before his current slump. He's now 1-29 in his last eight games. Hainley Statia had a nice offensive game, though, but two blown saves in one game? That's gotta hurt.

Arredondo: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
Sean O'Sullivan was replaced by John Sullivan in what appears to be a tandem start between the two, and Felipe Arredondo extended his scoreless streak to nine innings. It was a good day for Johnsons in the Angels system as Tyler Johnson's solo homer proved the difference in the game.

Conger got to catch! And — the name Butcher makes me wonder: a relative of former Angels roving pitching instructor Mike?

Carrara: (H, 3), 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 K, 1 BB, 4.62 ERA
D.J. Houlton has a good night, James Loney provides a homer, Gio Carrara gets a good couple innings in — what else could you ask for? The 51's now have a 42-42 record, pretty good considering the talent that's been promoted to the big club.
