Scott Sanderson CAL b. 1956, played 1993, 1995-1996, All-Star: 1991. In the majors after only one year in the minors, Sanderson earned his All-Star bid with the Yankees; he was an average starter with the Halos, and ended up on waivers in 1993, when he was claimed by the Giants. He came back to end his career in 1995 and '96 as a Halo, released after a month and a half in 1996.
Scot Shields ANA,LAA b. 1975, played 2001-2005. A Top 100 Angel, Shields is really the only guy you don't worry about when he's on the mound.
Bad Angels Return: Royals 8, Angels 3
Lather, rinse, repeat. Seriously, Bartolo Colon as mediocre as we've seen him since his 2004 first half, Brendan Donnelly inviting people to stick a fork in him, and an offense that couldn't get it done for the second night straight. At least Runelvys Hernandez is a righty, so Scioscia doesn't have to answer for putting Anderson in against a lefty, as he did on Thursday night.Black And Blue: Cardinals 2, Dodgers 0
Once upon a time, they were talking about Nomar winning a NL batting title. That was before the .239 average he accumulated in his July slump, coinciding nicely with the two series the Dodgers have against the Cardinals. J.D. Drew got plunked in the knee, and he's considered day-to-day. Too bad: the Cards are going to move up Jeff Weaver's turn to Saturday, so if the offense needed some help, they just got it.Kelvim Escobar's Pitching In Pain
Kelvim Escobar is pitching in pain these days. He claims it's a result of his bone spur operation last year, and that his elbow won't be 100% until next year. Also, it gets really bad around the 100 pitch mark, so is maybe a demotion of one or more relievers called for and let's give Joe Saunders a chance to stick in the rotation, can we, huh?I've been of the opinion for some time that he should be moved to the bullpen for the good of the team, since the 'pen is in tatters. But that would make too much sense, so you know it won't happen. But I'd be perfectly happy to see Saunders get another start.
