2006-08-01: Salt Lake 7, Nashville 6 #
Murphy: 3-5, 2 HR, 2 RBI
Aybar: 1-5, 1 2B, 2 K
Morales: 2-4, 1 BB, 2 K
Eylward: 3-4, 1 2B, 3 RBI
Mathis, J: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 K
Pavkovich: 0-2, 1 RBI, 2 BB
Gwyn: (W, 3-1) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 4.33 ERA
Kendry Morales is hitting .344/.364/.719 with three homers, three doubles, four strikeouts and one walk — today's — since going back to AAA. He has a five-game hitting streak going, and has two hits in each of his last four of those games. Jeff Mathis, in a brief slump, broke out with a pair of hits. Tommy Murphy homered twice, both solo shots, including the game-winner; Mike Eylward drove in three. It was a good thing, because Kasey Olenberger gave up six earned runs and a pair of homers to the Nashville Sounds. The Sounds went through six pitchers to get to the end of this game, three of whom only made one out. The eight-inning doubleheader game marked Nashville's fifth consecutive loss.
2006-08-01: Salt Lake 5, Nashville 9 #
Murphy: 1-4, 1 K
Aybar: 1-3, 1 RBI, 1 K
Morales: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K
Eylward: 0-3, 1 K
Mathis, J: 0-1, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Shell: (L, 3-7), 4.0 IP, 6 R, 5 ER, 7 H, 3 K, 2 BB, 6.43 ERA
A seven-inning doubleheader second half. Steven got Shelled again, etc. Otherwise, Kendry's on fire! Jeff Mathis DH'd and had a sac fly and a walk, thus explaining his 0-1 line.
2006-08-01: Wichita 7, Arkansas 10 #
Peel, A: 2-5, 2 2B, 2 RBI
Wood: 2-5, 2 2B, 3 RBI, 1 K
Brown: 3-5, 1 2B, 2 RBI
Evans: 1-3
Porter: 1-4, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 K
Wilson: 2-4
Pali: 2-3, 1 BB
Hunter: 4.0 IP, 7 R, 7 ER, 8 H, 0 K, 1 BB, 3 HR, 7.22 ERA
Zimmermann: (W, 2-3) (in relief), 2.1 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 5.25 ERA
Despite a terrible outing from Chris Hunter, an eight-run second inning that included Brandon Wood's league-leading 38th double. Greg Porter slammed a three-run homer.
2006-08-01: Rancho Cucamonga 2, Modesto 6 #
Sandoval, F: 1-3, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K
Rodriguez, S: 0-4, 1 BB, 2 K
Collins: 1-3, 1 K
Reilly: 2-4, 1 2B, 2 K
Toussaint: 0-4, 2 K
Rodriguez: (L, 3-11), 6.2 IP, 5 R, 3 ER, 5 H, 2 K, 5 BB, 5.69 ERA
Francisco Rodriguez tossed six scoreless frames, getting out of jams in the first, second, and fourth innings; his fourth inning trouble included consecutive hit batters with two outs, which he recovered from by picking off the baserunner at second. In the seventh, he walked the bases loaded and walked in a run. Pedro Herrera, in his second appearance this year with Rancho, came in and walked two more consecutive batters (for two more runs) and was replaced with Aaron Pullin, who recorded the last two outs. Herrera at least gets to say his own record is unblemished...
2006-08-01: Cedar Rapids 3, Peoria 5 #
Infante: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 K
Trumbo: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 BB, 1 K
Rosario: 3-4, 1 RBI
Statia: 0-1, 1 K
Hill: (L, 3-8), 7.0 IP, 5 R, 4 ER, 8 H, 7 K, 0 BB, 2 HR, 4.26 ERA
I don't know what's going on with Mark Trumbo, but it's bad when I get excited just because he gets a hit.
2006-08-01: Orem 22, Idaho Falls 12 #
Mount: 2-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 3 BB, 2 K
Bourjos: 2-6, 3 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Nieves: 2-5, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Johnson: 1-5, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 BB, 3 K
Rivera: 4-7, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K
Phillips: 2-7, 3 K
Sales: 4-5, 1 2B, 4 RBI, 1 K
Shankle: 1-2, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 4 BB, 1 K
Bambino: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Bell: 2.2 IP, 6 R, 6 ER, 8 H, 3 K, 2 BB, 4.05 ERA
Cook: (W, 2-1) (in relief), 2.1 IP, 5 R, 4 ER, 6 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 6.60 ERA
Incinelli: 1.2 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 3.71 ERA
A wild one. The Owlz hit three homers in this one, one of each subspecies save for the grand slam. Only late-innings sub Scott Knazek and starting shortstop P.J. Phillips didn't get an RBI; four Owlz had three, and Darrell Sales had four. With reserve catcher Richard Bambino behind the plate, the Chukars ran wild, recording six successful steals, one of third base. Trevor Bell didn't last three innings, and it took a tag team of four more relievers to get to the finish line. Idaho Falls reliever Aaron Hartsock, who had a 1.59 ERA going in to this game, blew up for six runs, all earned, recording only one out. Despite five errors, two by P.J. Phillips, the Owlz only surrendered one unearned run. Talk about pressing your luck.
2006-08-01: AZL Angels 3, AZL Cubs 2 #
Sweeney: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K
Lewis: 0-3, 2 BB, 2 K
Veras: 5.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 1.89 ERA
Madrigal: (BS, 2)(W, 2-0) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 0 K, 1 BB, 3.60 ERA
Madrigal gets lucky despite giving up an earned run; that Veras kid extends his streak of starts where he's given up one or fewer earned runs to four starts, getting a no-decision in this one. Wilberto Ortiz got hit by a pitch, sac bunted to second, wild pitched to third, and scored on a passed ball. Matt Sweeney's fine AZL season continues; he strikes out just a little more often than he walks (13/10 K/BB) and has a .321/.420/.631 average going into today's game, with 12 of his 27 hits falling for extra bases.
2006-08-01: Iowa 9, Las Vegas 3 #
Duncan: 3-5, 1 K
Valdez: 2-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Kemp: 0-5, 1 K
Young, D: 1-4, 1 2B, 2 K
LaRoche: 2-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Robles: 1-3, 1 BB
Eckert: (L, 5-9), 3.0 IP, 8 R, 4 ER, 8 H, 2 K, 3 BB, 2 HR, 7.63 ERA
Gonzalez, L: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 4.86 ERA
There was talk that the Dodgers might call up Matt Kemp after yesterday's performance. It didn't happen, but today's game was maybe a reminder that there's still work to do. Andy LaRoche homered in the loss.
2006-08-01: Mobile 6, Jacksonville 3 #
Hu, C: 1-5, 1 2B, 1 K
Abreu: 0-3, 1 K
Raglani: 1-3, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Elbert: 1-1, 1 2B
Elbert: (L, 3-2), 5.0 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 H, 6 K, 6 BB, 2 HR, 3.21 ERA
Kozlowski: 1.1 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 2.04 ERA
LaMura: 1.2 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 H, 3 K, 3 BB, 1 HR, 1.68 ERA
Anthony Raglani's two-run homer accounted for all but one of the Suns' runs scored in a thumping loss to the Bay Bears. Mobile right fielder Stephen Smitherman drove in five of the six runs; two of his hits were homers. 25-year-old former White Sox farmhand B.J. LaMura surrendered his first earned run in a Suns uniform, but still left the game with a sharp 1.68 ERA.
2006-08-01: Vero Beach 5, Palm Beach 6 #
Paul, X: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Dewitt: 1-5, 2 RBI
Dunlap: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Hoffmann: 1-4
Bastardo: 5.0 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 7 H, 6 K, 2 BB, 4.26 ERA
Ketchner: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 4.50 ERA
Wilson: (L, 2-5) (in relief), 0.2 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 3.31 ERA
Ryan Ketchner pitched two scoreless innings as the Dodgers couldn't hold on to a 4-0 lead; Palm Beach nibbled away until they tied it in the seventh and won it on a walkoff Rayner Laya ground ball single. Shoulda let the deaf guy pitch.
2006-08-01: Columbus did not play
2006-08-01: Ogden 6, Casper 8 #
Giles: 1-3, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K
Santana: 2-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Perez: 0-3, 2 BB, 1 K
Soto: 2-4, 1 2B
Brooks: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 BB
Morris: (L, 1-3), 4.2 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 6 H, 7 K, 4 BB, 4.31 ERA
Rodriguez, J: 2.1 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 4 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 5.74 ERA
Homers by Thomas Giles and the recently demoted (from Vero Beach) Carlos Santana weren't enough to lift Ogden past Casper.
2006-08-01: GCL Mets 7, GCL Dodgers 2 #
Herrera: 1-2, 2 BB
Mattingly: 0-4, 3 K
Jansen: 3-4, 1 3B
Melgarejo: 5.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 6 K, 4 BB, 3.70 ERA
Dutton: (BS, 1)(L, 3-2) (in relief), 3.0 IP, 3 R, 1 ER, 4 H, 2 K, 3 BB, 3.67 ERA

Comments:
Not That Matt.

But yeah, about Kendry. And thanks for the correction on the Orem wrap.

I called for Kendrick, I silently called for Loney and he's up to stay, I think. And in continuing the odious tradition of TJ Slimers by using the personal pronoun as many times as possible in an opening paragraph, I would like to now call for the promotion of A. LaRoche.

Of course, this might be insane since the Dodgers have 42 middle infielders.
