Minor League Scorebook

2006-08-04: Albuquerque 3, Salt Lake 5 #
Aybar: 1-4
Willits: 1-3, 1 K
Murphy: 1-4, 1 K
Morales: 0-3, 1 BB
McPherson: 2-3, 1 3B, 2 RBI, 1 K
Mathis, J: 1-4, 1 K
Gorneault: 2-3, 1 K
Eylward: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI
Bland: (W, 5-3), 6.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 H, 4 K, 0 BB, 4.52 ERA
Three errors on each side, including one by Erick Aybar, and yet nary an unearned run. Finally, a solid night for Dallas McPherson, who, along with the rest of the Bees, stung former Dirtbag Jason Vargas for five runs over 4.2 IP; he had tossed 100 pitches by the time he was yanked. Vargas, 2-3 with a 5.10 ERA, is having a tough time in the PCL this year. Albuquerque defense threw out Nick Gorneault at home and Kendry Morales at third in the second and third innings respectively, ending those innings. McPherson's 2-3 night raised his PCL average to .229. Nate Bland also had a fine outing, pitching six innings with only two earned runs.

Gelinas: (L, 2-5), 5.0 IP, 6 R, 5 ER, 11 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 5.49 ERA
Patrick Reilly's solo homer couldn't help Karl Gelinas, who got shelled.

Incinelli: (W, 1-1) (in relief), 3.1 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 H, 4 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 3.98 ERA
The Owlz led from beginning to end; Ryan Mount's strange line was due to his appearance as a pinch-hitter. And here's another potentially interesting kid to keep an eye on: Barret Browning, who's got 22 K's in 24.2 IP against only 8 walks.

Peter Bourjos scored on a steal of third base when Casper catcher Austin Rauch threw the ball away. Tyler Johnson and Luis Rivera both had solo homers.

... sometimes you're the bug. Derek Lee pitched seven and a third as the RedHawks took a two-run advantage from the first down to the finish line. Both runs were unearned thanks to an Andy LaRoche error.
