The Grizzlies mauled D.J. Houlton for seven runs, all of them earned. He beaned Fresno second baseman Kevin Frandsen in the third following a leadoff double by Jason Ellison, and the Grizzlies proceeded to load the bases following a Lance Niekro walk. (Frandsen left the game following his knock in the head.) From there, the situation deteriorated and ultimately resulted in five Fresno runners crossing the plate. Grizzly pitching kept the 51's scoreless until the ninth, when four consecutive singles with nobody out put the team on the board at last, but Michael Tejera got Oscar Robles to hit into a double play, and Nick Alvarez to fly out to end the threat.

Comments:
What happened to Tommy Murphy in the Salt Lake game? Was he hurt by the hit pitch? I noticed on the log that he was pulled in the first inning after one batter in the bottom of the inning.

Stephen Smith of futureangels.com says that Kendry Morales has missed the last few games due to a slight oblique pull.
