Minor League Scorebook

2006-08-16: Fresno 8, Salt Lake 3 #
Aybar: 2-4
Smith, C: 1-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K
Murphy: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Eylward: 1-4, 1 K
Gorneault: 0-4, 2 K
Mathis, J: 0-4, 1 K
Myers: 2-3, 1 K
Olenberger: (L, 5-4), 6.0 IP, 4 R, 3 ER, 7 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 5.47 ERA
Casey Smith and Tommy Murphy had back-to-back jacks in the first, but Kasey Olenberger couldn't hold the 3-1 lead, and then the roof really caved in when they called in Greg Jones.
2006-08-16: Arkansas 1, Frisco 8 #
Evans: 0-4, 3 K
Rodriguez, S: 2-3, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K
Pali: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 K
Rodland: 0-1, 2 BB
Rodriguez, R: (L, 5-9), 7.1 IP, 5 R, 5 ER, 8 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 6.67 ERA
I guess it's not news that Sean Rodriguez got the callup from Rancho to replace Brandon Wood, late to the Olympic qualifing tournament. In turn, Bobby Mosebach and Hainley Statia got the callup to Rancho. Rodriguez homered in his first AA game, but that was all the scoring the Travs would do, as Frisco pounded Arkansas for eight runs. Ricardo Rodriguez limited the Roughriders to two runs through seven, but imploded in the eighth as part of a six-run frame.
2006-08-16: Lancaster 10, Rancho Cucamonga 1 #
Statia: 0-4, 1 K
Sutton: 2-4, 1 2B
Sandoval, F: 0-2, 2 BB
Collins: 1-3, 1 BB
Reilly: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K
Marek: (L, 1-3), 5.0 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 5 H, 5 K, 3 BB, 1 HR, 4.32 ERA
Another in a series of beatdowns that started at the big club and went all the way down to Orem, who got shutout (see below). Stephen Marek couldn't hold Lancaster, but the real damage was done by the bullpen, who allowed six runs.
2006-08-16: Cedar Rapids 4, Clinton 7 #
Coon: 2-5, 2 K
Infante: 2-4, 1 3B, 3 RBI, 1 K

Pete: 2.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 8.49 ERA
Didjurgis: 3.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 4.74 ERA
2006-08-16: Orem 0, Billings 9 #
Mount: 1-4
Phillips: 0-4, 1 K
Bell: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 3.73 ERA
Holler: (L, 2-3) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 6 R, 4 ER, 5 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 4.55 ERA
To reorganize the rotation Trevor Bell was put on a strict pitch count and got yanked after only two scoreless innings that included one strikeout, no walks and no hits. Once again, the bullpen did in the team in, surrendering a two-out grand slam to Michael McKennon. The loss ended a five-game winning streak.

Robles: 1-3, 1 BB
Kemp: 0-4, 1 K
Young, D: 0-4, 2 K

Dessens: (BS, 1)(L, 0-1) (in relief), 0.2 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 0 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 13.50 ERA
Elmer Dessens spoiled Joel Hanrahan's excellent two-run, ten-strikeout effort. Andy LaRoche homered and went 3-4 in the loss.

Greenberg: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K
Dewitt: 1-5, 1 K
Meadows: 1-3, 2 BB

Gutierrez, G: 2-4, 1 K
Lundberg: (W, 13-1), 7.2 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 9 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 2.03 ERA
Suns manager John Shoemaker picked up his 1,000th career win, two days before he turned 50. He's been a minor league manager for 16 years, and was a former Dodger system player. A.J. Zapp drove in a pair, and had a perfect day at the plate. Spike Lundberg lowered his ERA to 2.03, and leads the Southern League.

Nope, still not intimidating. Columbus scored a pair in each of the seventh and eighth to tie and win the game. Lucas May's shot was of the two-run variety.
