- No Angel or Dodger prospect get mentioned in the top ten of this
week's Prospect Hot Sheet,
but I did spy this comment about Angels prospect Matt Sweeney:

How many Potomac State recruits get mentioned in the Hot Sheet? Credit area scout Dan Radcliffe with finding Sweeney at a Maryland high school, convincing the organization to snag him in the eighth round. He's rewarded the Angels with 22 extra-base hits and a .356 average, and his .616 slugging percentage ranks second. - Dodgers prospect Jesus Soto made Offensive Player of the Week in the Pioneer League; no Angel prospect was so named.
- No Angel or Dodger prospect was named Pitcher of the Week.

It's not often you can take a 9-2 lead into the top of the ninth and turn it into a loss, but that's what the Dodgers did in this one — and all the runs scored with two outs. After retiring the leadoff hitter on a flyball out to center, reliever Skyler Tripp walked four consecutive batters, but still a National didn't cross the plate thanks to catcher A.J. Anthony picking off Agustin German trying to steal third. On the fifth walk... Tripp got yanked in favor of Gary Paris... who walked his next two batters, and wild pitched in a third run, thus gifting Tripp with the runs from the runners he left on. Another single chased Paris, and Agustin German, who led off the inning, came up with an RBI triple to clear the bases of the two remaining baserunners. Richard Hidalgo made the final out, striking out. Phew.

Comments:
Be sure to highlight BP's stat of the day -- "AL team defense, by defensive efficiency." According to this stat, the Angels' maligned defense is fourth best in the league.

FWIW, Sean Rodriguez and Jose Arredondo made the Cal League All-Star team, Rodriguez as the team's dh.
