165: Mets 9, Dodgers 4

Oh, somewhere in this homestand, Kirk Gibson's ball takes flight
Hersheiser strikes out dozens, Scioscia bombs the Mets at night
And somewhere flags are flying — that's forever, so they say —
But those players all retired, and our Nomar couldn't play.
And so the 88-win Dodgers go down, not without a fight, but certainly without much of a fight. The last inning, I hear, was a great thing, but it seems too much to expect this weathered team to pull off any more heroics. Their pixy dust ended at 162 games, and that barely. Time for 2007, and so to the exits. Good job, boys; just not quite enough.

I'm certainly not demanding my money back on 2006, are you?
