Angels Trade Gregg To Marlins

The Angels traded reliever Kevin Gregg to the Marlins, for journeyman reliever Chris Resop. Resop had a 3.31 ERA in 21.1 IP, and 4.22 K/9 with the big club last year, his second stint in the major leagues; he will be playing out his age 24 season next year.

Comments:
I suppose, at age 24, Resop still has a chance to get better, whereas the Angels have seen the best Gregg has to offer, and let's just say it ain't all that great. That said, the nice thing about Gregg was the fact that he actually pitched well in the mop-up role, because he could come in and give them 4 or 5 innings out of the 'pen when necessary.

I'm not sure it's fair to call Resop a "journeyman," not when he's all of 24 years old, has played for only one organization, and made it to the majors at age 22, with less than 3 years of minor-league experience.

His PCL numbers don't look all that bad, considering his home ballpark was Albuqurque.

"Resop" is "Poser" spelled backwards.

It looks like Resop is a converted outfielder according to Baseball Cube. Some articles online say he throws pretty hard also. You figure if you can turn Gregg, a 28 year old mop up man, into a halfway decent pitcher with a live arm, then it was a pretty good trade.
