Girardi, Leyland Named Managers Of The Year
Take That, Jeff Loria: Joe Girardi of the Marlins and Jim Leyland of the Tigers were named NL and AL Manager of the Year, respectively. Both were strong candidates, and deserved the honor, but what amazes me is how little regard Loria seemed to have for the guy who brought a team expected to trail the division in the early going and turn them into a legitimate contender. David Pinto notes that Girardi becomes the first manager in the award's history to have a losing record.
