Tony Cuccinello BRO b. 1907, played 1932-1935, All-Star: 1933, 1938, 1945, d. 1995-09-21. Came close to winning the AL batting title in his last year in the majors, 1945, but the Chisox released him anyway; with the war over and young players returning, a 39-year-old third baseman did not appeal.
Shane Halter ANA b. 1969, played 2004. Pay attention to the bench, Bill, lest we see more guys like this one end up playing on the major league roster.
Gary Lucas CAL b. 1954, played 1986-1987
Jose Offerman LAN b. 1968, played 1990-1995, All-Star: 1995, 1999. How did this guy get to be an All Star? A terrible fielder, he led the league with 42 errors in 1992; he still is on the Dodger leaderboard for single-season errors (no, I don't have my Media Guide with me today). The Sporting News' Minor League Player of the Year in 1990, too, and he's still around. Amazing to hear it.
