More Mid-Day Stuff
And just after we got done yakking with Matt Welch, too...
- Tim Salmon has some hot red wheels, a new Ferrari F430, a gift from his wife, Marci.
"I'm doing a lot of things I've wanted to do but couldn't because of baseball," Salmon said. "I went skiing for the first time since high school. That's the reason I wanted to get out of the game with my knee in decent enough shape, to enjoy some of the things I want to do."
...
"This next year or so, I'll have to see how everything is going to fit together," Salmon said. "Being here, I enjoy it. They want me to be available to the younger players, and that's an important role because I know what it's like as a young guy. I wouldn't mind doing that, but as far as getting into the nuts and bolts of coaching every day, that's probably not in the near future."
- Tommy Lasorda says a few words, but the more important story is Yhency Brazoban losing weight, recently threw 15 pitches off a mound, and continues to work on his rehab after Tommy John surgery. He hopes to return mid-summer.
