Escobar To The DL, Greg Jones Recalled

Instead of arguing which of Dustin Moseley or Joe Saunders the Angels will have to demote to AAA Salt Lake, it looks like Kelvim Escobar will be placed on the 15-day DL with right shoulder irritation, retroactive to April 9. Greg Jones will take his place on the 25-man roster, recalled from Salt Lake; Hector Carrasco will make Escobar's scheduled start on Saturday. Steven Shell returns to AAA Salt Lake from AA Arkansas to replace Jones in the Bees' roster.

The optimistic view on this one was that Escobar was indeed having some tendinitis or what-have-you that missing a start or two could help, and/or the Angels wanted to see another start by Moseley without forcing their hand on Jered Weaver.

The pessimistic view is shoulder capsule injury.

Stay tuned.

"retroactive to April 19"? Admittedly, I don't profess to be an expert in DLs, waivers, DFAs, etc. but that doesn't sound right to me.

One "1" too many. Thanks.
