Minor League Scorebook

2007-04-16: Salt Lake 1, Las Vegas 2 #
Evans: 1-4, 1 3B, 2 K
Mathis: 1-4, 3 K
Wood: 1-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Morales: 1-4
Gorneault: 0-4
Smith, C: 2-4
Olenberger: (L, 1-1), 7.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 H, 7 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 2.25 ERA
Nominally my favorite kind of game, the Bees came out on the wrong side of this pitchers' duel despite Kasey Olenberger giving up only two runs. And isn't that interesting: Terry Evans batting leadoff and playing center field. Hm...
2007-04-16: Midland 15, Arkansas 1 #
Peel, A: 2-4, 1 RBI
Rodriguez, S: 0-4, 3 K
Wilson: 0-3, 2 K
Collins: 0-1
Green: (L, 0-1), 3.1 IP, 9 R, 9 ER, 8 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 8.36 ERA
Edens: 2.1 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 14.73 ERA
Nick Green got badly nicked in his home debut; Richie Robnett drove in five for the Rock Hounds, and was a single short of the cycle.
2007-04-16: Rancho Cucamonga did not play
2007-04-16: Wisconsin 3, Cedar Rapids 4 #
Bourjos: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Phillips: 0-3, 2 K
Conger: 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 K
Mount: 1-2, 1 2B, 2 BB
Haynes: 5.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 8 H, 10 K, 1 BB, 1.74 ERA
Sullivan: 2.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 3.00 ERA
Herrera: (W, 1-0) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
Not entirely dominating, as Jeremy Haynes gave up eight hits while striking out ten over five innings, but the Kernels got the win nonetheless; the winning run came in the bottom of the ninth, when Wisconsin third baseman Alex Liddi allowed Peter Bourjos to advance to third after botching a sacrifice attempt; Matt Sweeney drove him in on a walkoff RBI single.
2007-04-16: Orem did not play
2007-04-16: AZL Angels did not play
2007-04-16: Salt Lake 1, Las Vegas 2 #
Abreu: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Loney: 0-3, 1 BB
LaRoche: 1-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Young: 0-4, 3 K
Stults: (W, 2-0), 7.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 8 H, 6 K, 1 BB, 2.30 ERA
Andy LaRoche's two-run homer was the deciding factor in this game; no scoring occurred on either side after the first. Eric Stults kept the Bees off the board otherwise, and Chin-Hui Tsao got the save with two strikeouts.
2007-04-16: Jacksonville 5, Huntsville 3 #
Hu, C: 0-6
Paul: 1-6, 1 K
Lindsey: 3-5, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 1 BB
McDougall: 1-6, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 K
Allen: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 BB, 1 K
Raglani: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 K
Dunlap: 0-1, 1 K
Ellis: 1-6, 1 RBI, 4 K
Elbert: 0-1, 1 K
Elbert: 3.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 H, 6 K, 7 BB, 3.86 ERA
Orenduff, J: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 0.00 ERA
Alvarez, C: (W, 2-0) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 2 BB, 0.00 ERA
Meloan: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
Fourteen innings long, not a run scoring from the fifth through the 13th; with gametime temps starting at 63°F, it's no wonder there were only 888 in the stands. That's not to say that there weren't threats; in fact, there were only four 1-2-3 innings in the whole sequence (the top of the fifth, the 11th for both sides, and the top of the 13th).

The game was decided on consecutive homers by John Lindsey (his fourth) and Marshall McDougall (his first). Jonathan Meloan came in to get the save, recording outs on all the batters he faced.

Mattingly: 2-4, 1 2B

Rodriguez, J: 3.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 2.57 ERA
Yay! Mattingly has a couple hits!
