Ex-Dodger prospect Willy Aybar has an alcohol and drug abuse problem that precipitated his recent absence from the team. He'll meet with baseball officials in Boston on Friday. (Hat tip: Jon).

2007-04-19: Salt Lake 2, Tucson 4 #
Mathis: 2-4, 1 2B
Wood: 3-4, 1 RBI
Morales: 0-4, 1 K
Gorneault: 0-4, 1 K
Shell: 3.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 7 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 1.29 ERA
Bulger: (L, 1-1) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 4.26 ERA
Resop: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 8.68 ERA
An interesting game despite the loss; Randy Johnson appeared for the Sidewinders in his final rehab start. He later said he was pleased with the results. He burned through 95 pitches to get through seven innings, but, from memory, about 70 of those came in the first four innings. Steven Shell posted three solid innings in his first start of the year, also giving up his first earned run of the season. He struggled to get through those innings, though, tossing 51 pitches. Jason Bulger took the loss, failing to help himself with a balk that set up runners at second and third, both of which got cashed in on Danny Richar's double.

Brandon Wood had three singles, driving in one of the Bees' two runs, and successfully stole second base against the duet of Randy Johnson on the mound, and Mark Johnson behind the plate. Two of Wood's hits came against Johnson, as did Jeff Mathis' first-inning double.

Rodriguez, S: 1-4, 1 2B, 2 K
Sandoval, F: 1-2, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2 BB

Collins: 0-4, 2 K
Adenhart: (W, 3-0), 7.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 6 H, 6 K, 2 BB, 0.49 ERA
Another Nick Adenhart gem that makes him undefeated on the year, with decisions in every start, and only one earned run surrendered so far, which might make him the league leader if only we had the league stats page updated. Bobby Wilson's two-run dinger and Greg Porter's homer provided three of the Travs' runs. Michael Collins has yet to appear behind the dish this year, used exclusively at first, DH, or as a pinch-hitter; once again, he was at first.

Rodriguez: 3.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 3 K, 2 BB, 3.60 ERA
The Quakes got a two-run homer from Pat Reilly, and an RBI single from Dallas Morris that drove Rancho over the top. They pieced together a patchwork pitching performance starting with a newly returned Stephen Marek.

Homers from Kelly Stinnett and Adam LaRoche powered the 51's to a 9-3 victory over the Sky Sox despite a pair of errors, both by Tony Abreu. A fine outing for Greg Miller.

Jon, who was listening to the game, reported that back stiffness kept Matt Kemp on the bench for this game.
