The Streak Continues: Dodgers 6, Diamondbacks 4
I don't have a lot to add to Jon's post about last night's game; the Dodgers are just on one hell of a tear, as others have mentioned. I need to call up Josh Rawitch and get one thing settled and then maybe I can get on with this season. We'll see how this goes.Roster Notes
- It turns out that Vladdy didn't think Josh Beckett pitched with intent in the hit-by-pitch that took him out of this series, and possibly the next one.
"I didn't think there was any intention," Guerrero said. "It's not uncommon; I get pitched inside. Sometimes after you get pitched inside you hit a home run off them. It's something I'm used to. When I was with the Expos I was pitched inside a lot, too."
Will Carroll said yesterday that he figured Vlad would return later in the week; I read that as Saturday, and anything before then is a blessing. - Chone Figgins is back to swinging a bat, whether that's a good thing or not; he says he's lost sensation in his fingers and has to work to get it back. Um. Not sure what to say to that; perhaps there's been nerve damage, in which case, couldn't that permanently screw him up? He claims it's coming back.
- Greg Jones was DFA'd to make room for Jered Weaver on the 25-man roster.
- Hong-Chih Kuo threw an effective bullpen session Tuesday, and is expected to toss a simulated game on Friday. If everything goes according to schedule, he could be put on a minor league rehab assignment.
- Jeff Kent's double in last night's game was his 506th, tying him with Babe Ruth all-time.
- Padres starting catcher Josh Bard should return from the DL April 28, as expected.
- The Angels aren't the only ones in the division being set back by injuries; Milton Bradley missed his fifth straight game with a sore hamstring. The team will likely decide Friday whether to put him on the DL.
- Rich Harden will miss his next start.
