The Disconnect

News item: Following the possibly drug and/or alcohol-related death of Cardinals reliever Josh Hancock, Cubs manager Lou Piniella suggests he would be fine with an alcohol ban in the clubhouse.
News item: Baseball celebrates the founding of the American Association, also known as the "Beer and Whiskey League" for its Sunday games and alcohol service at and near the games. Several teams in the American Association, including the teams that eventually became the Cincinnati Reds, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Brooklyn Dodgers, all joined the National League.
