2007-05-10: Memphis 3, Salt Lake 11 #
Haynes: 4-5, 2 RBI

Wood: 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Gorneault: 1-4, 1 BB, 1 K

Rouwenhorst: (W, 4-0), 6.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 4.08 ERA
Salt Lake applied a thumpin' to Memphis, and some crazy stuff going on here, including two triples by catcher Ben Johnson, just called up from Rancho. Budde left Wednesday's game in the seventh with an injury, and so we assume Budde's about to hit the DL. Rancho's roster shows them temporarily carrying only one catcher, Brett Martinez.

Jonathan Rouwenhorst pitched a fine game, and Matt Wilhite posted three innings of one-run ball to collect his third save of the season. Brandon Wood didn't contribute much with the bat, but he did make a brilliant leaping stab at third of Edgar V Gonzalez's screaming line drive to make the last out of the top of the 8th. Terry Evans recovered from a mini-slump, and is hitting .414/.414/.690 over the last week.

2007-05-10: Tulsa 7, Arkansas 3 #
Rodriguez, S: 0-2, 1 K
Collins: 0-3, 1 RBI, 1 K
Adenhart: (L, 3-2), 5.1 IP, 5 R, 5 ER, 8 H, 3 K, 3 BB, 2.55 ERA
Edwards: 1.2 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 3.45 ERA
Nick Adenhart's second bad outing in a row. His strikeouts have suddenly evaporated, only eight over his last 15.2 innings/3 games, while his walks have zoomed upwards (9 over the same span).
2007-05-10: Lake Elsinore 0, Rancho Cucamonga 4 #
Statia: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Toussaint: 2-3, 1 RBI
Mosebach: (W, 4-2), 6.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 5 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 3.70 ERA
Bobby Mosebach turned in a fine performance. Rancho scored three of their four runs in the fourth, two of them coming on a Nate Sutton triple with two on; Jordan Renz cashed Sutton in on an RBI single. Darren O'Day earned his seventh save by pitching two outs in the ninth; he has yet to allow an earned run this year.
2007-05-10: Cedar Rapids 3, West Michigan 2 #
Trumbo: 1-4, 1 2B
Conger: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Mount: 0-3, 1 K
Phillips: 1-3, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Brandt: (W, 2-0), 6.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 6 K, 1 BB, 0.91 ERA
Madrigal: (H, 4), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 K, 2 BB, 4.38 ERA
Browning: 1.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 3.95 ERA
Conger's first homer since May 2, it was a great offensive night for him, driving in two of the Kernels' three runs. P.J. Phillips also homered.

Darren Brandt made his fourth consecutive start, and his second quality start; today was his best outing of the year. He's allowed three earned runs all year in a total of 29.2 innings over nine games, with an impressive 30/7 K/BB ratio. As with Tim Schoeninger, he's a former college pitcher (Cal State San Bernardino), so he'll have to move fast through the ranks if he expects to make it to the Show. With more games like this one, he just might.

A real gunfight at the OK Corral Cashman Field, with the game even going into extra innings (ten). Oklahoma struck first with one run in the top of the first, but the 51's quickly answered with five in the bottom half of the frame, three of them on a Mitch Jones homer that plated Tony Abreu and Matt Kemp. Jones, formerly a Yankees farmhand, is 29 years old, and has already slugged eight homers so far this year for Las Vegas.

Oklahoma committed five errors in the game. That didn't include Delwyn Young's infield single on a popup to catcher Guillermo Quiroz, but Redhawks first baseman Nate Gold mangled a throw, allowing Larry Bigbie to reach and Young to alight at second safely. Consecutive singles cashed both of them in, and Sergio Garcia's groundout double play allowed Tomas Perez to cross the plate.

Oklahoma scored two runs in each frame from the fourth through the seventh, with Las Vegas picking up one more in their half of the forth on Matt Kemp's leadoff homer. The Redhawks scored on a bases-loaded walk in the top of the fourth; Matt Kemp's fielding error in the top of the fifth put Ramon Vazquez on third, and he eventually scored on a Marlon Byrd line-drive single.

With the game tied going into the bottom of the eighth, the 51's plated three with a Mitch Jones single and a Larry Bigbie double, but reliever Eric Hull imploded, giving up a two-run homer to Gold, and a two-run double to Tug Hulett. Hull eventually got out of the jam, but he left the game to his offense.

Ken Huckaby reached on a double in the bottom of the ninth, and Tony Abreu drove him in to send the game into extras. Reliever Spike Lundberg then gave up a single, a hit by pitch, and a homer to Ramon Vazquez (his first of the year) to once again give the Redhawks the lead.

They blew it in the ninth by allowing two relievers, Steven Rowe and A.J. Murray, to walk the bases loaded. Jones and Young then scored on Sergio Garcia's groundout, and Kelly Stinnett homered with Garcia still aboard to take the game. Whew.

Akin: 1.2 IP, 6 R, 6 ER, 5 H, 3 K, 3 BB, 1 HR, 6.64 ERA
Wright: (W, 2-2) (in relief), 2.1 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 5.14 ERA
Another dramatic come-from-behind win in the Dodgers system, as Jacksonville plated six in the fifth; a very sloppy game for Birmingham, who committed five errors. A three-run eighth sealed the deal, with 30-year-old John Lindsey's three-run shot, his eighth of the season, sealing the deal. Wesley Wright got the win in relief.
