PCL Reunion Set For Saturday
The annual Pacific Coast Reunion will be held in Carson this coming Saturday.Earl Averill, Rudy Regalado, Rod Graber and Bill Glynn, all of whom played for the San Diego Padres, will be joined by Dick Smith of the Los Angeles Angels, Bob DiPietro of the Padres, San Francisco Seals and Portland Beavers, and Kay Chorlton of the Seattle Rainiers.
Roster Notes
- Look upon this list and tell me if you see any actual hitters, either:
Among the players the Angels are believed to be interested in are Colorado third baseman Garrett Atkins and outfielders Brad Hawpe and Jeff Baker, outfielders Kevin Mench (Milwaukee), Jacque Jones (Chicago Cubs), Pat Burrell (Philadelphia) and Emil Brown (Kansas City), and third basemen Morgan Ensberg (Houston) and Edwin Encarnacion (Cincinnati).
Jones? Jones? - Justin Speier was unavailable yesterday for a "non-baseball-related condition", and will not be available today, either.
- Jason Schmidt said he felt fine after throwing for the first time in over two weeks.
- Yhency Brazoban and Hong-Chih Kuo were both activated and optioned to Las Vegas.
- The words "Alfredo Amezega" and "everyday centerfielder" shouldn't go together in the same sentence, but it is true for the Marlins. Talk about a player getting the most of the least talent!
- I had either forgotten or never read that, in addition to his hamstring problems, A's outfielder Milton Bradley has wrist soreness that prevents him from swinging left-handed.
- A's outfielder Mark Kotsay should return on schedule from his back surgery, around June 1.
- Nick Swisher is also having hamstring problems that will keep him out of the game or at DH until his legs are better.
