Bulger: (BS, 1), 1.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 3.20 ERA
Wilhite, M: (L, 2-2) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 2.72 ERA
Jason Bulger imploded for three runs on an Ian Stewart home run in this ten-inning game. Matt Wilhite finished the Bees' self-immolation by allowing a run on a Jayson Nix double and Alvin Colina's single. All four runs registered with two outs, so the loss was extra yucky.

Terry Evans' solo homer came in the bottom of the 7th. Aside from that, there were a number of multi-hit games, including Brandon Wood, Kendry Morales, and rehabbing Maicer Izturis.

2007-06-11: Springfield 3, Arkansas 2 #
Rodriguez, S: 0-4, 2 K
Wilson: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Collins: 0-3
Green: (L, 5-4), 7.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 7 H, 7 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 4.01 ERA
Nick Green pitched a quality start plus, but took the loss anyway as his offense couldn't get past Cory Rauschenberger and two Cardinals relievers. Green continues to be one of the bright spots in what has been a dismal season for the third-place Travs (25-37), with a 4.01 ERA and a 5-4 record, he's striking out almost exactly seven times as many as he's walking. His strikeout rate has declined some from the Cal League, something the Angels are sure to keep an eye on.
2007-06-11: Lake Elsinore 0, Rancho Cucamonga 5 #
Smith, Co: 2-4, 2 K
Statia: 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 K
Johnson: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Toussaint: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Butcher: (W, 4-5), 9.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 6 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 1.81 ERA
Brok Butcher tosses a gem, a complete game shutout with only three strikeouts and six hits. Ben Johnson and Drew Toussaint both homered, Johnson's a two-run shot in the bottom of the eighth, Toussaint's a one-out shot in the bottom of the second.
2007-06-11: Cedar Rapids 4, Beloit 2 #
Pettit: 2-4, 1 3B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Trumbo: 0-3, 1 RBI
Conger: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Sweeney: 3-3, 2 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Phillips: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K
Smith: 3-3
Bell: (W, 2-2), 7.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 7 H, 5 K, 0 BB, 3.34 ERA
Browning: (S, 4), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 3.98 ERA
Trevor Bell picked up his second win for his most dominating performance of the year. Had the offense awakened in the seventh instead of the eighth, it would have been a complete game as well, as this was a scheduled 7-inning doubleheader. Barrett Browning got the save for a scoreless eighth. Matt Sweeney went 3-for-3 with a home run against a righty, which is unusual because so far this year, he's hitting .328 vs. lefties but only .259 against righties.
2007-06-11: Cedar Rapids 4, Beloit 5 #
Trumbo: 1-4, 1 K
Conger: 2-4, 2 2B
Phillips: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Brandt: 4.0 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 6 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 2.28 ERA
Cook: (L, 1-2) (in relief), 3.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 6 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 0.82 ERA
Madrigal: 0.1 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 K, 1 BB, 3.38 ERA
Starter Doug Brandt gave up four runs, all earned, through only four innings, so Aaron Cook took off from there and eventually was charged with the loss for the Kernels after loading up the bases in the eighth on three consecutive singles, the last a bunt single by Danny Santiesteban. Warner Madrigal came in to try and restore order, and while he did manage to get the first out of the inning, he walked his second batter to give Cook the loss.
2007-06-11: Orem did not play
2007-06-11: AZL Angels did not play
2007-06-11: Las Vegas 5, Tucson 8 #
Valdez: 2-4, 1 3B
Young: 1-4, 1 K
LaRoche: 2-4, 1 RBI
Juarez: 5.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 H, 3 K, 3 BB, 4.85 ERA
White: (BS, 4)(L, 0-4) (in relief), 1.1 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 H, 0 K, 2 BB, 4.17 ERA
The Las Vegas rotation has suddenly become uninteresting, hasn't it? Minus Billingsley, minus Kuo, the only remotely interesting pitchers to the major league club are D.J. Houlton, and if you squint hard enough, Eric Stults. William Juarez pitched five acceptable innings, but Matt White took the loss after a four-run implosion in the eighth.
2007-06-11: Chattanooga 4, Jacksonville 7 #
Paul: 2-5, 1 2B, 2 K
Hu, C: 2-5, 1 RBI, 1 K
Concepcion: 2-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Raglani: 2-2, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2 BB
Ellis: 3-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI
Dunlap: 0-1, 1 K
Hammes: 0-2, 2 K
Hammes: (W, 1-3), 5.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 H, 4 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 4.50 ERA
Akin: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 5 K, 0 BB, 5.67 ERA
Meloan: (S, 11), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 2.25 ERA
Anthony Raglani pasted a two-run double in the fifth to break a 2-2 tie and give the Suns a lead they would not surrender. Zach Hammes piched five innings of two-run ball, collecting the win, while Jonathan Meloan got his eleventh save.
2007-06-11: Inland Empire 4, Bakersfield 3 #
Hunt: 2-4
Dewitt: 0-4, 1 BB, 2 K
May: 3-5, 1 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 K
Denker, T: 2-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB

Guerra: (W, 4-2), 6.0 IP, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 6 K, 4 BB, 3.92 ERA
Wilson: (S, 5), 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 0.56 ERA
2007-06-11: Great Lakes 5, West Michigan 4 #
Berezay: 2-4, 2 2B, 1 K
Peterson: 4-4, 1 RBI
Bell: 1-4, 1 RBI
Mattingly: 0-4, 2 K
Giles: 3-3, 1 2B, 3 RBI
Wall: (W, 3-7), 6.0 IP, 4 R, 3 ER, 11 H, 1 K, 5 BB, 5.15 ERA
Ramirez: (S, 7), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 1.08 ERA
James Peterson went 4-for-4 with a first-inning RBI in a seven-inning doubleheader game. It was his best outing all year, but he has a good .356/.408/.489 line; in the pitcher-friendly Midwest League, that's pretty good.
2007-06-11: Great Lakes 3, West Michigan 0 #
Rivera, J: 1-4
Bell: 0-3, 1 RBI, 2 K
Mattingly: 1-3, 1 2B
Santana: 0-3
Pfeiffer: (W, 1-0), 5.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 6 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 0.00 ERA
Gardner: (S, 1), 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 5.60 ERA
The Loons won both ends of the double header thanks to a three-run sixth and David Pfeiffer's five scoreless innings, his first victory in his first appearance in the Midwest League (he was previously in the Cal League), and his first start of the season.
2007-06-11: Ogden did not play
2007-06-11: GCL Dodgers did not play

Rob,
I must admit I'm intrigued by Bulger. We traded Callaspo to get him. I remember reading about the Aybar/Callaspo tandum four or five years ago as being the Angels' glorious up-the-middle future. Bulger hurt himself late last season and was dropped from the 40-man. I figured, like everyone else, the trade was a bust.

Now, if we start paying attention to his stats since his return, especially his last 13 games, we find that these are the only runs he's allowed since April 28; this was a home run to a left handed batter. If we check his stats closely, they still look pretty good, but it's obvious all the damage against him is left handed.

I hadn't noticed that, but it may be some combination of small sample size and recovery from his recent injury. He had problems with lefties in 2005 with Tucson, though not so pronounced as his current line.

I am not familiar with minorleaguesplits.com before now. However, the last ten games' splits and entire 2007 stats on minorleaguebaseball.com are compelling.
