Chris Jaffe's Von Hayes All-Stars
A great piece by Chris Jaffe in Ballhype about the Von Hayes All-Stars, players who fell apart after age 30. Of course, Hayes is of particular interest to the Angels, because he played out his last season with that team, and ended up getting released upon Tim Salmon's rise to the Show. But the other things of interest:
- Adam Kennedy, collapsing in St. Louis along with a host of other ex-Angels.
- Nomar Garciaparra, hitting an empty .280 without walks or power.
- Kevin Millwood and Vicente Padilla, two-fifths of the Rangers' rotation.
- Barry Zito.
- Michael Barrett.

Of the players listed, I have the most hope for Millwood. His last five starts, he's averaging nearly a strikeout an inning and all but the last have been very good. The last game wasn't so hot but he won.
