Padres Deal Scott Linebrink To Brewers
The Padres have sent Scott Linebrink to the Brewers, for three minor league pitchers:
The Padres received left-handed reliever Joe Thatcher, who was expected to join San Diego's bullpen, plus prospects Will Inman and Steve Garrison. Inman, a 20-year-old right-hander, was rated the third-best prospect in Milwaukee's organization by Baseball America. Thatcher was rated 23rd and Garrison was rated 27th.This is interesting in light of news earlier in the day that the Padres were going to ease off of using Linebrink automatically in the seventh and eighth innings of games. Linebrink had surrendered 7 earned runs over his last three appearances, one of those against the Rockies; his ERA went from 2.55 before those appearances to 3.80.
