Angel Stadium, Witness To History
Factoid uncovered at BCB: Angel Stadium is the only remaining park which has witnessed all three major Hall of Fame milestones:
- Reggie Jackson's 500th home run (September 17, 1984, against Bud Black and the Royals)
- Rod Carew's 3,000th hit (August 4, 1985, appropriately enough vs the Twins)
- Don Sutton's 300th win (June 18, 1986 against the Rangers)
Comments:
Those are also only the milestone achieved by Angels. I don't know if there are any more than this one, but I know George Brett hit his 3000th at Angel Stadium too.
He did it on September 30, 1992, in a 4-0 shutout. Rick Reed pitched a complete game for the Royals.
Yeah, I was actually looking to see whether newly called up Tim Salmon was in the lineup at that point; no dice. In fact, his last major league appearance of 1992 was September 29, the day before.
