Minor League Scorebook

Late today... see post below for why.

2007-08-04: Salt Lake vs. Albuquerque: Cancelled #
Due to rain; the game was interrupted in the fourth, with the Isotopes leading 5-2, called after a rain delay of two and a half hours. The game does not count, and will not be made up, marking the first time since 2003 that the Bees have not played a full 144 game schedule.
2007-08-04: Wichita 4, Arkansas 8 #
Smith, Co: 2-5, 1 2B, 3 RBI
Morrissey: 2-5, 1 RBI
Sandoval, F: 2-5, 1 RBI
Rodriguez, S: 1-2, 1 RBI, 2 BB
Johnson: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Collins: 0-4, 1 K
Pali: 2-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Coon: 2-4
Hunter: 4.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 5.40 ERA
Austen: (W, 2-0) (in relief), 2.2 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 7.27 ERA
No home runs, just a lot of hits against a weak pitcher (3-12, 6.04 ERA Daniel Christensen, whose photo makes him look as tired as his record suggests). The Travs chased Christensen in the fourth, but they'd already posted a big four-run third inning, capped by Ben Johnson's RBI double.

Coby Smith drove in three; he's doing pretty well for a guy who went undrafted for three years after he got out of Troy State. He's 26, and so his good performance at AA isn't unexpected. You have to appreciate the walks he's taking, but he's got just about no power (.288/.381/.394). Reggie Willits, Jr.?

2007-08-04: Rancho Cucamonga 12, Stockton 3 #
Statia: 1-5, 1 RBI, 1 K
Pettit: 3-4, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Peel, A: 2-5, 1 K
Reilly: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 K
Infante: 3-5, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 1 K
Renz: 3-5, 2 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K
Wipke: 2-5, 2 2B, 1 RBI, 2 K
McRobbie: (W, 3-1), 7.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 7 H, 6 K, 1 BB, 2 HR, 5.00 ERA
Alex McRobbie collected his third quality start in five tries. All of his quality starts have been wins, too. Larry Infante and Jordan Renz both homered.
2007-08-04: Cedar Rapids 4, Clinton 3 (7 innings) #
Bourjos: 2-4
Conger: 1-4
Trumbo: 1-3, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Sweeney: 2-3, 2 2B, 1 RBI
Phillips: 2-2, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Haynes: (W, 5-5), 5.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 6 H, 5 K, 4 BB, 3.18 ERA
Shearer: (S, 1), 1.1 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 0.95 ERA
Completed early due to rain. Mark Trumbo had a two-run homer in the first, and Matt Sweeney and P.J. Phillips drove in a run apiece. Jeremy Haynes got the win despite a less-than-quality start.
2007-08-04: Orem 3, Ogden 4 #
Romine: 3-4
Gronkowski: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Perez: 1-3, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Walden: 4.0 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 4.86 ERA
Schlecker: (L, 0-3) (in relief), 2.2 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 4.13 ERA
Ogden got the better of Orem this time, with Elian Herrera delivering a walkoff double off Owlz reliever Derek Schlecker. Gordon Gronkowski and Julio Perez hit back-to-back solo homers in the eighth to tie the game at three apiece; they got them off Ogden reliever Given Kutz, who erased Robert Blevins' chance for a third victory.
2007-08-04: AZL Angels 6, AZL Giants 0 (6 innings) #
Fuller: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Castillo: 2-2, 1 2B, 1 BB
Mann: 3-3, 1 RBI
Colmenares: 2-3
Molina, R: (W, 4-2), 5.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 3.35 ERA
I was wondering when this might happen... it's monsoon season in Arizona, and this one completed early due to rain, unlikely as that sounds. Ivan Contreras walked and Clayton Fuller followed up immediately with a home run, and that was all the Angels needed. Robin Molina collected his fourth win, two-hitting the Giants through five innings of shutout ball.
2007-08-04: Las Vegas 0, Omaha 9 #
Hu, C: 2-4, 1 2B
Stults: (L, 5-6), 4.0 IP, 5 R, 4 ER, 6 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 2 HR, 7.14 ERA
Wright: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 8.04 ERA
Hoorelbeke: 1.0 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 5.70 ERA
They're not hitting in the big club and for Las Vegas, as Omaha starter Ben Hendrickson pitched a complete-game shutout. Starter Eric Stults took the loss and left after four; one of his five runs was unearned thanks to his own throwing error on a grounder off the bat of Mitch Maier.
2007-08-04: Jacksonville 6, Chattanooga 4 #
Tomlin: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 K
Gonzalez, J: 1-3, 2 BB
Howard, K: 3-5, 1 RBI
Dewitt: 1-5, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Dunlap: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Orenduff, J: 0-3, 2 K
Orenduff, J: (W, 7-4), 5.0 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 8 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 3 HR, 4.21 ERA
Wade: 3.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 4 K, 0 BB, 1.20 ERA
Troncoso: (S, 6), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 3.38 ERA
Justin Orenduff added to his win collection despite an appreciably less-than-quality start. Jacksonville started out with a big four-run lead in the first, keyed by A.J. Ellis' RBI triple with the bases loaded and capped by Blake Dewitt's RBI double.
2007-08-04: High Desert 3, Inland Empire 2 (13 innings) #
