Evans: 1-2, 2 BB, 1 K

Shell: 3.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 4.73 ERA
With major league rosters expanded, the Bees were a little short-handed. Nevertheless, the Bees won anyway thanks in part to a fine game from Juan Rivera, who led the way with a season high 3-for-5 effort. Henry Bonilla won despite a forgettable seven-earned-run performance, thanks to a big seven run second inning against his 51's counterpart, Spike Lundberg. Lundberg presided over a huge two-out rally that really got going with Rivera's two-run double; Lundberg made things worse by putting Rivera on third with a wild pitch, and was eventually cashed in by Greg Porter's double. Lundberg then did himself and his team a favor by getting ejected; his night ended with eight runs, all earned, over an inning and two-thirds.
Chales Dasni then made his PCL debut after being called up from Ogden (wow) and performed about as expected, delivering up an RBI double to Bobby Wilson. As is typical for Angels teams, Matt Brown tried to extend things on the basepaths but instead ended up out at the plate.
The 51's had several good offensive performances, as Tony Abreu and Delwyn Young both went 3-for-5, Young with a pair of doubles and a team-leading three RBIs.
The 51's and Bees have two games remaining.
Coon: 3-4, 1 3B, 1 BB
Rodriguez, S: 1-4, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 2 K
Johnson: 2-5, 2 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Morrissey: 3-4, 1 3B, 1 RBI
Collins: 0-3, 1 BB
Gonzalez, M: (W, 8-4), 6.1 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 6 H, 2 K, 4 BB, 2 HR, 3.38 ERA
Rodriguez, R: (H, 5), 1.2 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 4.16 ERA
O'Day: (S, 10), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 3.99 ERA
Improbably, the Travs kept their postseason hopes alive yet another day as they beat the team they had to, the Springfield Cardinals. The Travs have an elimination number of two, so any Springfield win at home in this series knocks Arkansas out of the postseason entirely, since they didn't win the division in the first half.
Miguel Gonzalez continued his Joe Saunders imitation, winning with an improbable low strikeout rate (5.60 K/9, 1.97 K/BB) game. Sean Rodriguez homered, a two-run shot in the first, Brad Coon went 3-for-4, and catcher Ben Johnson had a big RBI double and scored a run on a wild pitch in the top of the three-run fifth.
Statia: 1-1, 1 2B
Dini: 2-3, 1 RBI
Leblanc: 1-3, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K
Holler: 7.0 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 7 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 1.38 ERA
Mattison: (L, 1-6) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 5.22 ERA
A second impressive start in the Cal League for Blake Holler, who delivered a quality start plus for the Quakes while dancing through seven hits. One of his runs was unearned on an Erick Aybar fielding error with two out in the top of the first. He made up for it immediately by getting a leadoff single in the bottom of the frame and scoring a run on Chris Pettit's RBI single.
Doug Brandt pitched a scoreless eighth, but Tim Mattison gave up a pair in the top of the ninth to collar the loss.
Bourjos: 3-5, 1 2B
Ortiz, W: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 RBI
Trumbo: 0-4, 1 BB, 1 K
Johnson: 2-2, 1 BB
Walker: 0-2, 2 BB
Mount: 0-4, 2 K
O'Sullivan: (L, 10-7), 6.0 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 11 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 2.22 ERA
Sean O'Sullivan got cuffed around some (11 hits?) and took his sevent loss as his offense couldn't get any traction against Chiefs starter Jeremy Papelbon. Kelly Shearer pitched a scoreless seventh, and Felipe Arredondo relieved him to post a zero frame in the eighth.
Anton: (L, 0-1), 5.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 H, 4 K, 3 BB, 5.40 ERA
Michael Anton made his maiden Pioneer League outing and took his first loss. Jeremy Moore hit a solo homer for the Owlz' only run of the game. The loss marked the last home game of the season for Orem.
For the Raptors, Kristopher Krise pitched what was clearly his best game of the year, going seven innings and striking out ten, allowing the only three hits the Owlz got all game.
Abreu: 3-5, 1 RBI
Young: 3-5, 2 2B, 3 RBI
LaRoche: 1-4, 1 BB, 1 K
Martinez: 3-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI
Maza: 2-4
Lundberg: (L, 7-7), 1.2 IP, 8 R, 8 ER, 8 H, 0 K, 3 BB, 6.94 ERA
Hoorelbeke: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 5.56 ERA
Nicholson: 0-1, 3 BB, 1 K
Dunlap: 0-3, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Dewitt: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 2 K
Rohan: 2-4, 1 K
McDonald: 3.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 5 K, 1 BB, 1.71 ERA
Megrew: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 5.42 ERA
Norrito: (W, 8-4) (in relief), 5.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 6 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 4.12 ERA
Eliminated Jacksonville played like they meant it, and squished the Biscuits with a four-run first on Blake Dewitt's grand slam and never looked back. James McDonald came out of the game after three for his final appearance of the year, striking out five, and I can't wait to see what he can do for Las Vegas next year.
Paul: 1-4, 2 K
Raglani: 0-2, 2 BB
Dunlap: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Orenduff, J: (L, 8-5), 4.0 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 5 H, 6 K, 2 BB, 2 HR, 4.21 ERA
Hammes: 3.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 6 H, 4 K, 0 BB, 5.23 ERA
Montgomery took the second half of the doubleheader, with Justin Orenduff going only four innings and giving up four runs, all earned. Orenduff surrendered back-to-back one-out homers to Patrick Cotrell (his first of the year) and Patrick Breen (his seventh) in the top of the fourth but settled down to strike out the next two batters he faced. Zach Hammes let the game get really out of reach by allowing three more runs, as did B.J. LaMura.
Pedroza: 2-4, 1 RBI
May: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 K
Bell: 0-4
Gutierrez, G: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 BB
White, C: (L, 2-3), 4.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 3.90 ERA
Berezay: 1-3, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Santana: 0-3
Rivera, J: 2-2
Smit: (L, 0-5), 3.0 IP, 8 R, 6 ER, 7 H, 6 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 8.34 ERA
Castillo: 3.1 IP, 3 R, 1 ER, 5 H, 6 K, 4 BB, 5.36 ERA
Caraballo: (S, 8), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 4.87 ERA
