Bartolo Colon, postseason hero! Meh, it's only in AAA but I'm sure the Bees are happy to take Bart's quality start, though the four K's are pretty low. Matt Brown and Greg Porter both homered in the PCL playoff opener, but the game's real hero was Brandon Wood, who got a walkoff RBI single in the bottom of the 10th.
Greg Jones got lit up for three runs, all earned, and Steven Shell got the win in relief by making the last out of the 10th. Sacramento's Shane Komine, considered an actual pitching prospect in the latest BA Prospect Handbook (14th in their system) gave up six runs on eight hits, and both of Salt Lake's homers.
Phillips: 1-4
Trumbo: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Conger: 0-2, 1 RBI, 1 BB

Trevor Bell got the Kernels off to a great start in the best-of-three playoff series with an excellent seven-inning, one-run game in which he gave up only three hits, one of them a solo homer to Chad Tracy. Mark Trumbo homered, also a solo shot, Ryan Mount had a perfect night at the plate, and Marco Albano and Warner Madrigal both pitched perfect innings, with Madrigal striking out the side in the ninth for his first postseason save.
Kennedy: 0-2, 2 BB

Holland: 1.2 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 5.26 ERA
Orem and Ogden played out the string waiting for the postseason to start, with Ogden slamming Owlz starter Robert Fish good and hard, chasing him after only an inning and a third.
Jovanny Rosario had five hits for the Raptors, and Michael Gardner gave up only a single run over six innings. Travis Vetters and Jerry Gonzalez-Lopez both homered, both two-run shots, Vetters' in the first and Gonzalez-Lopez's in the seventh.
Mitchell: 1-4, 2 BB, 2 K
Hoffmann: 2-6, 1 RBI, 1 K
Bell: 1-5, 1 HR, 1 RBI

Guerra: (W, 1-0) (in relief), 4.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 6 K, 2 BB, 0.00 ERA
A couple of games with walkoff RBIs today, as Jamie Hoffmann belted a one-run double in the 14th. Alberto Bastardo pitched a fine game, going six with two earned runs and six strikeouts.
The remaining two games of the series will be played at Lake Elsinore.
