Holy smoke, what a game! In a do-or-die game for Great Falls, the White Sox struck first in the sixth. Greg Paiml reached on a single and then advanced to second on a throwing error by Owlz catcher Anel De Los Santos. Salvador Sanchez drove him in, but Orem got back in the top of the seventh as De Los Santos walked and eventually scored on a throwing error by 2B Joe Persichina.
Ryan Brasier came in for the save in the ninth, and immediately blew the save by surrendering a leadoff homer to C.J. Retherford, sending the game to extras. Brian Chambers, Jordan Towns (the ultimate winning pitcher), and Mason Tobin then came in to pitch seven scoreless frames. Chambers squeaked out of a bases-loaded, no-outs jam in the 11th by coaxing a rare 6-2-5 double play off Christian Marrero, and then striking out Matt Inouye. The game's best pitching performance, though, was certainly starter Jordan Walden's, who went eight innings and struck out ten, another superhuman postseason appearance, allowing only four hits and a walk.
Jay Brossman, who had been one of the Owlz' most productive players all season, hit a solo blast in the top of the 16th off reliever Adam Bowling. The 37-39 Owlz thus won their third Pioneer League title in four years under Tom Kotchman.
