Minor League Scorebook
News
I guess I should start with something of an apology for not following the Arizona Fall League at all, but I suppose the moral is you get what you pay for. On the other hand, maybe I wouldn't have been blindsided by Darren O'Day, either. As it was, I felt kind of funny buying the Angels Information Guide and discovering that O'Day didn't even make the Angels' 25-man roster description section, so much of a surprise was he.- The Travs already have some roster movement, with OF Jordan Renz getting the callup from Rancho to replace the injured Chris Pettit, disabled due to a fractured fifth metatarsal on the right foot. He will head to Anaheim for possible surgery, which if necessary will sideline him for the balance of the year. He injured the foot breaking for a fly ball in the fourth inning of Thursday's season opener.
- In turn, this caused OF Anthony Norman to be called up to Rancho from Cedar Rapids; the Kernels in their turn get Donato Giovanatto from extended spring training.
- Old news (3/21), but in case you missed it, here's a nifty MiLB.com review of the Dodgers' minor league prospects.
- I still haven't readjusted the prospect lists for this year, so there may be some staleness there.

Salt Lake opened their season with a sweep for the first time in franchise history.
Looking at the Bees' lineup, there's four guys in there who could be third base candidates: Brandon Wood, Matt Brown, and Freddie Sandoval, and if you squint hard, Kendry Morales.
Jose Arredondo earned his first save of the year, and Kasey Olenberger his first victory. Eric Stults took the loss for the 51's, and failed to get out of the fourth; Bobby Wilson walked and eventually circled the basepaths on three wild pitches from Stults. That's a bad command day.

Comments:
Rob, I would consider Sean Rodriguez as the fourth player capable of playing 3B for the BEES instead of Morales.......and like your individuals' performance recap points out, this save was Arredondo's third in three apprearances in the four-game series.....interesting occurance for the shortstop-turned-pitcher who was demoted from AA to A last season.
I was going to throw Kendry in there, but I don't think he'll get time at the position. You do occaisionally, however, hear about Kendry Morales mentioned in the same breath as third base, because he arrived on the speedboat that way. Checking his minor league record, he hasn't played the position since he was at Rancho, and so the Angels probably don't think of him that way (as they shouldn't). I do think his defense is probably better than generally believed.
