Minor League Scorebook

News

Thanks to Jon for pointing out that the Dodgers traded Eric Hull to Boston in exchange for Christian Lara, a former GCL Player of the Year. Hull was assigned to extended spring training and placed on the AAA Pawtucket inactive roster.

Scores

2008-04-07: Salt Lake 4, Tucson 0 #
Wilson: 2-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 2 K
Evans: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 BB, 3 K
Morales: 2-4, 1 BB
Brown, M: 2-4, 1 2B
Wood: 1-4
Rodriguez, S: 0-3, 1 BB, 3 K
Alvarado, C: 5.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 3 K, 2 BB, 0.00 ERA
Wilhite, M: (W, 1-0) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
Both teams were scoreless through eight; the Bees rallied on a Matt Brown double, a Brandon Wood single, and a Sean Rodriguez walk to load 'em up for a bases loaded groundout and would-be double-play ball that turned into an error and a run. Bobby Wilson followed that up with an RBI double that cashed in two more, and Tucson catcher Wilkin Castillo had a passed ball that scored Brad Coon.

Carlos Alvarado, a former Cincinnati prospect and minor league free agent who hadn't pitched since 2006, made his PCL debut, pitching five scoreless frames.

The win puts the Bees 5-0 on the young season, the first time in franchise history they've opened a season with that record. The Bees will face a rehabbing Randy Johnson tonight.

2008-04-07: Frisco 8, Arkansas 0 #
Statia: 2-3, 1 2B
Collins: 1-3
Smith, J: (L, 0-1), 2.2 IP, 5 R, 5 ER, 5 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 16.88 ERA
Stertzbach: 3.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 6 H, 4 K, 0 BB, 9.00 ERA
As good as the Bees have been, that's how bad the Travs have been; they're 0-5 on the year. Frisco starter Trey Hodges and three relievers four-hit the Travs, who never advanced past third base. Jesse Smith took the loss while failing to make it out of the third.
2008-04-07: High Desert 3, Rancho Cucamonga 10 #
Bourjos: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Phillips: 3-5, 1 2B
Ortiz, W: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Trumbo: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI
Remole: 3-5, 1 3B, 2 RBI
Toussaint: 3-5, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Brewer: 2-5, 1 2B
Diaz: (W, 1-0), 6.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 6 K, 2 BB, 0.00 ERA
Incinelli: 2.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 9.00 ERA
Quakes starter Amalio Diaz took advantage of timely hitting by his offense to notch his first win of the season, recording six strikeouts along the way. Drew Toussaint homered, a one-out solo shot in the second; most of Rancho's scoring was done in the five-run fifth.
2008-04-07: Quad Cities 12, Cedar Rapids 7 #
Moore: 2-5, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K
Navarro: 2-4, 1 RBI, 2 K
Johnson: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 K
Reckling: 2.2 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 H, 3 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 13.50 ERA
McKiernan: (L, 0-1) (in relief), 4.1 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 5 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 10.13 ERA
2008-04-07: Orem did not play
2008-04-07: AZL Angels did not play
2008-04-07: Colorado Springs 4, Las Vegas 5 #
Paul: 0-5, 5 K
Tiffee: 3-5
Griffin: 3-5, 1 K
Martinez: 2-3, 1 2B, 2 RBI
Howard, K: 2-4, 1 RBI
Orenduff, J: 2.2 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 H, 3 K, 4 BB, 6.75 ERA
Miller: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 4.50 ERA
Falkenborg: (W, 1-1) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 15.43 ERA
The 51's pitching woes continue, but managed to beat the Sky Sox anyway to notch their first win of the year, giving them a 1-4 record. Justin Orenduff failed to escape the third, so a tag team of relievers got the team through while Las Vegas pecked away at a 2-0 and then a 4-2 lead. Jason Repko's RBI triple in the bottom of the seventh drove in the tying run, and Ramon Martinez drove in the game winner when he slapped an RBI single that scored Terry Tiffee in the ninth.
2008-04-07: West Tenn 12, Jacksonville 4 #
De Jesus: 0-3, 2 BB
Tomlin: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 K
May: 1-2, 3 BB

Hammes: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
Former Dodger farmhand Ryan Ketchner got the start for West Tenn and lasted only 3.1 innings after giving up three runs, all earned. That was nothing compared to the eight-run meltdown in the fourth that included a bases-clearing RBI triple by Marshall Hubbard and a three-run homer by Mark Kiger. Two of those baserunners were hit by Mario Alvarez.

Felix: 4.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 4 K, 2 BB, 4.05 ERA
Suspended at midnight after fifteen innings, just because; play will resume today at 6:05 PM.
