Minor League Scorebook

2008-04-09: Salt Lake 12, Tucson 3 #
Coon: 2-5, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K
Rodriguez, S: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K
Evans: 4-6, 2 2B, 1 RBI
Morales: 0-6, 1 RBI, 1 K
Brown, M: 4-6, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Wood: 1-5, 1 K
Pavkovich: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Budde: 1-3, 1 3B, 2 RBI, 2 BB
Adenhart: (W, 2-0), 6.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 H, 6 K, 3 BB, 0.82 ERA
Matt Brown hit the first cycle in the minors this year to help lead the Bees to a franchise record 7-0 start. Nick Adenhart got his second victory, whiffing a batter an inning over six frames, and now owns a very shiny 0.82 ERA.

Incidentally: MILB.com this year seems to have removed the written game recap links from their box scores, and also changed the main page of the team pages on that site to show the whole team schedule, which takes up a lot of visual space. It's really messy, and I don't like it. Grumble.

2008-04-09: Arkansas did not play
2008-04-09: High Desert 3, Rancho Cucamonga 1 #
Bourjos: 1-4
Phillips: 0-3, 1 K
Ortiz, W: 2-4, 1 2B
Trumbo: 1-4
Remole: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI
Perez, J: 4.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 3 BB, 0.00 ERA
Shearer: 3.1 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 H, 4 K, 0 BB, 1.80 ERA
Albano: (BS, 3)(L, 0-1) (in relief), 1.2 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 4.76 ERA
Rancho cruised through seven, but Kelley Shearer's wild pitch and a fielding error by shortstop P.J. Phillips helped create a three-run meltdown that ultimately lost the game. Rancho scored its only tally in the first on Clifton Remole's RBI single.
2008-04-09: Quad Cities 0, Cedar Rapids 2 (7 innings) #
Brossman: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI
Rosenbaum: 2-3, 2 2B
Tobin: (W, 1-0), 7.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
The first of two shutouts by the Kernels, this one featured a complete game three-hitter by Mason Tobin over seven frames as part of a rainout makeup. The Kernels scored single runs in the first and fourth.
2008-04-09: Quad Cities 0, Cedar Rapids 3 (7 innings) #
Fuller: 2-4, 1 2B
Romine: 2-3, 1 BB
Brossman: 2-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
De Los Santos: 2-3, 1 2B
Fish: (W, 1-0), 5.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 8 K, 3 BB, 4.15 ERA
Brasier: (S, 2), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
Who was more dominating — Mason Tobin in his seven frames or Robert Fish in five, but with eight strikeouts? Either way, three pitchers blanked the renamed Quad Cities Bandits in fourteen innings and notched a pair of wins. The Kernels scored two in the first, one of which was unearned thanks to a fielding error by first baseman Charlie Pelt.
2008-04-09: Orem did not play
2008-04-09: AZL Angels did not play
2008-04-09: Colorado Springs 11, Las Vegas 4 #
Repko: 0-3, 2 BB
Tiffee: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K
Miller: 0-1, 1 K
Lindsey: 2-4
Griffin: 0-2, 2 BB, 2 K
Howard, K: 2-2, 2 RBI
Ellis: 2-4
Johnson: (L, 0-2), 3.1 IP, 6 R, 6 ER, 11 H, 5 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 17.05 ERA
Riley: 2.1 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 4 K, 4 BB, 1 HR, 4.05 ERA
Miller: 2.2 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 3 BB, 8.10 ERA
Greg Miller just got hammered in this one, though he did pretty well through an inning and a third. But he walked the leadoff batter in the ninth, always a bad sign, and then gave up three consecutive singles before getting Seth Smith to fly out. That wasn't enough to get him yanked, and so he walked Ian Stewart. It maybe says something that Miller was pitching in a game where the 51's were down by three in the top of the ninth.

I still have to get the watchlist updated, which is why Jason Repko's 0-3 doesn't show up here. AAAA third baseman Terry Tiffee, now hitting .586 on the young season, and his eventual replacement, Kevin Howard, collectively drove in three runs. Jason Johnson took the loss.

2008-04-09: Jacksonville 4, Tennessee 1 #
De Jesus: 3-5, 1 2B, 1 K
May: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K
McDonald: 4.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 4 K, 2 BB, 2.57 ERA
Sierra: (W, 3-0) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 0.00 ERA
Brazoban: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
Akin: 2.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 3 K, 2 BB, 9.00 ERA
James McDonald lasted only four innings, though the reason for that is unclear. Maybe they're easing him into starting, though that doesn't make much sense. Nice win for the Suns, whose offense included a Lucas May homer. Yhency Brazoban also made a rehab appearance, striking out one and surrendering a hit, a two-out double to Chris Robinson.
2008-04-09: Lancaster 4, Inland Empire 2 #

Koss: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 2.08 ERA
White, G: 1.1 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 2 K, 3 BB, 18.00 ERA
2008-04-09: Great Lakes 0, West Michigan 9 #

Wood's got a 6-game hitting streak, but man, it looks pretty cr*ppy. I think Matt Williams had a 20+ game streak of this kind once.

A very empty hitting streak, probably of the one-hit-each variety, and not a lot of walks, either.
