Minor League Scorebook

2008-04-16: Las Vegas 0, Salt Lake 1 #
Willits: 0-2, 2 BB
Evans: 0-2, 2 BB, 1 K
Wood: 0-3, 2 K
Rodriguez, S: 2-3, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K
Wilson: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 K
Loux: (W, 3-0), 7.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 4 H, 6 K, 2 BB, 0.46 ERA
Arredondo: (S, 6), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 2.57 ERA
Remember Greg Jones? A former Angels farmhand drafted in 1995, he stuck with the team as recently as last year, and signed with the Dodgers in the offseason. He gave up the game-winning solo homer to Sean Rodriguez in the bottom of the 7th, and hello, Mr. Jones!

Reggie Willits made his first appearances since being sent down (presumably he found out about it long before we did), and walked twice in the leadoff spot.

Shane Loux got his third win in as many tries, and has an 11/3 K/BB ratio in 19.2 IP with a 1.61 G/F ratio. The Angels haven't had a dedicated groundball-out reliever since Ben Weber used to do that job back in 2004 (and he was only effective through 2003), and so there could be some potential there. Jose Arredondo notched his sixth save.

For Las Vegas, Jonathan Meloan pitched acceptably but walked as many as he struck out (four in each case).

2008-04-16: Arkansas did not play
2008-04-16: Rancho Cucamonga 2, Bakersfield 3 #
Bourjos: 1-4, 1 K
Trumbo: 1-2, 2 BB
Ortiz, W: 2-4, 1 RBI
Phillips: 0-3, 2 K
Mendoza: (L, 0-2), 5.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 8 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 4.50 ERA
Incinelli: 1.1 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 4.32 ERA
Tommy Mendoza gave up eight hits and got the deserved loss in this one. Wilberto Ortiz made it interesting in the bottom of the 9th with a two-out RBI single that plated Peter Bourjos, but that was it for Rancho.
2008-04-16: Great Lakes 8, Cedar Rapids 7 #
Moore: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Fuller: 1-4, 1 3B, 1 BB
Gronkowski: 3-3, 1 3B, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB
De Los Santos: 1-2, 1 2B, 2 RBI
Walden: 5.2 IP, 6 R, 1 ER, 5 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 1.02 ERA
Leon: (BS, 1), 1.1 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 2.16 ERA
Brasier: (L, 0-1) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
Gordon Gronkowski's first really good day at the plate — a double away from the cycle — wasn't enough to overcome a pair of errors in the top of the ninth by CF Clayton Fuller and catcher Anel De Los Santos that gave away the game with two outs.

And yeah, six errors by Cedar Rapids, three by shortstop Gonzalez-Lopez.

Jordan Walden: 6 runs allowed, only one earned? How many errors were committed in the game?

Six. Ouch.
