Symbolism: Braves 4, Dodgers 1
I watched the first inning of yesterday's game, and Andruw Jones whiffed on three straight pitches; today, he hit a beautiful arcing solo homer into the tunnel in the left field bleachers — and that was the end of the Dodgers' scoring.
The Dodgers end the day 7-10, ahead of only the Giants.
Update: The Sons say it much more eloquently than I have:
Andruw Jones returning to Turner Field is like a high school reunion disaster. He's a heck of a lot fatter, his wheels aren't as fast, and he hasn't really done much of anything since he left.Yeah, there's that solo homer, but the offense on this team is pretty woeful. Compared to their league brethren, the Dodgers are 10th in runs scored, though the good news is they're 7th in OPS, which points to a hopefully brighter future, as does being 6th in OBP. I'm pretty sure that with more time, they'll regress up, if that makes any sense.
