There's A Hole In The Bottom Of The Staff: Angels 10, Mariners 5

Aside from getting to miss Erik Bedard (and in the most predictable way, too, as a late scratch due to an inflamed hip, which set up the Angels with Cha Seung Baek and Eric O'Flaherty to knock around, which they did; Jeff Mathis homered off O'Flaherty, Vlad, GMJ, and Mathis all knocked in two, and generally a grand old time was had by all, including starter Joe Saunders, who gave up two runs over 5.1 innings.

Except, not quite. Along the way, Howie Kendrick developed a hamstring pull that got him yanked from the game after he hit a double that might have been a triple with a hale baserunner. More, the Angels yet again exhibited the shoddy bullpen work that has lately been so irritating, with Justin Speier nearly hitting Ichiro Suzuki not once but twice in the same at bat. Francisco Rodriguez used the opportunity of a six-run lead to throw all but exclusively fastballs at the Mariners' offense, and he was barely able to maintain command thereof, surrendering a run in the process. It was a win, sure, but it would be nice if the Angels would take it a little more seriously.
