Update: Updates!

2008-05-05: Salt Lake 5, Nashville 1 #
Coon: 3-5, 1 2B
Morales: 2-3, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Evans: 2-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K
Wilson: 2-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Alvarado, C: (W, 3-0), 6.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 6 K, 2 BB, 2.14 ERA
Thompson: 2.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 3.97 ERA
Arredondo: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 1.38 ERA
A pair of homers by Kendry Morales, solo shots in the second and sixth innings, and one by Bobby Wilson, sent the Bees home winners. Of maybe more importance is Giancarlo Alvarado's aparkling six shutout innings with six strikeouts to pull his ERA down to 2.14; it's obviously too early to say anything with any confidence, but the 30-year-old has a palindromic 31/13 K/BB ratio in 33.2 innings of work so far. His big problem is his hittability (WHIP of unity), something that seems to have plagued him his whole career. Nevertheless, given the other options, the Angels may decide to take a look at him if things get particularly thin in the bullpen.
2008-05-05: Arkansas 1, Springfield 4 #
Statia: 1-4
Smith, Cor: 2-4, 2 K
Sutton: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI
Denham: (L, 1-4), 6.0 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 8 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 1.55 ERA
Marek: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 3.46 ERA
Dan Denham gave up more than one run for the first time this year (five starts).
2008-05-05: Rancho Cucamonga did not play
2008-05-05: Peoria 5, Cedar Rapids 2 #
Romine: 1-3, 1 K
Brossman: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K
Fuller: 0-2, 2 BB, 1 K
De Los Santos: 0-4, 1 RBI, 1 K
Tobin: (L, 2-1), 7.0 IP, 5 R, 5 ER, 7 H, 3 K, 4 BB, 2 HR, 2.48 ERA
Mason Tobin got really shelled for the first time this year, and also gave up more walks than strikeouts for the second time. He's not missing as many bats as he did last year, so that's something to keep an eye on.

Jay Brossman homered in the loss.

2008-05-05: Orem did not play
2008-05-05: AZL Angels did not play
2008-05-05: Las Vegas 1, Round Rock 2 #
LaRoche: 1-3, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Repko: 1-4, 2 K
Ardoin: 2-3, 1 2B
Pinango: (L, 1-2), 6.0 IP, 2 R, 0 ER, 5 H, 6 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 5.17 ERA
Andy LaRoche hit his second homer of the minor league season, but unfortunately his fourth inning solo shot was the only offense the 51's could muster against Round Rock starter Josh Muecke. AAAA catcher Danny Ardoin had the only other extra-base hit, a double.
2008-05-05: Carolina 11, Jacksonville 1 #
De Jesus: 0-4
Jacobs: 2-3
May: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Alvarez, M: 0-1
Alvarez, M: (L, 0-4), 4.0 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 7 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 2 HR, 7.71 ERA
Hammes: 2.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 8.68 ERA
2008-05-05: Inland Empire did not play
2008-05-05: Wisconsin 1, Great Lakes 6 #
Rosario: 2-4, 2 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Lambo: 0-4, 2 K
Ortiz: 1-3, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Baez: 2-3, 2 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Mattingly: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Johnson: (W, 3-1), 5.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 6 K, 2 BB, 2.12 ERA
Garate: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 3.00 ERA
A very nice performance by Steve Johnson, who missed a quality start by three outs.
2008-05-05: Ogden did not play
2008-05-05: GCL Dodgers did not play
