Cubs Batter Chisox With 9-Run 4th: Cubs 11, White Sox 7
The Cubs are busy setting team records today, with Jim Edmonds homering twice in the same inning, something that's only happened twice before in team history, most recently by Mark Bellhorn on August 29, 2002 at Milwaukee. Jose Contreras simply melted down in the fourth, chased by Aramis Ramirez' three-run homer, one of four in the inning.
Update: Carlos Marmol had his second weak outing in a row, giving up a run, as did Bobby Howry, but the Cubs held on to win.
Another note about that big fourth inning: the Northsiders hit back-to-back shots twice. The nine runs scored in the fourth was the biggest single-inning outburst from the Cubs since a ten-run inning against St. Louis at Wrigley on June 10, 2004 against Dan Haren.
