Mets Fire Manager Willie Randolph, Some Coaching Staff
The Mets fired manager Willie Randolph, and right after the team won against a division leader, too. After most of their fans were asleep. Why?
Pitching coach Rick Peterson and first base coach Tom Nieto were also fired.
Bench coach Jerry Manuel will take over in the interim, with Ken Oberkfell, the club’s manager at Triple-A New Orleans, and Dan Warthen, pitching coach for the Zephyrs, joining the major league staff along with Luis Aguayo, a Mets field coordinator.
Via BTF.
Via Jon, the Mets are the laughingstock of baseball because of the classless way that Randolph was fired; why make him travel 3,000 miles and manage one game and then fire him?
