Dodgers To Activate Nomar, A. Jones, Other Roster Notes
- The Dodgers will activate Andruw Jones and Nomar Garciaparra for Friday's game in San Francisco. Nomar is scheduled to be the team's starting shortstop.
- Brad Penny will not make his next start, but Chan-Ho Park will get the call. Penny is still having command issues.
- Chin-Lung Hu is getting drops prescribed for his right eye to clear up blurred vision. Hmm, maybe it's a better idea to wait on him rather than calling up Ivan DeJesus, Jr. from AA Jacksonville.
- Update: According to today's radio broadcast, Jeff Kent was removed from the game with back stiffness.
- Update 2: Rafael Furcal's surgery was successful without complications.

Ignoramus Blowhard, a/k/a Plaschke, is at it again. This time, he's flipped back to being an Angels' guy, not that he's the kind of guy you want admiring your way of doing things.

My favorite excerpt: "Before Thursday, the Dodgers had a better team batting average and on-base percentage than the Angels, while scoring only 10 fewer runs.[p]Yet the Angels had won 11 more games.[P]Why?[p]The Angels have a culture that believes in winning over statistics, winning over awards, winning over everything."
While that culture thing might be true, the real reason they are winning is that the Angels have Lackey, Santana, Saunders, Weaver, Garland, K-Rod, Shields & Arredondo. They win in spite of a pitiful offense because their pitching staff has made opposing offenses even more pitiful.

I think my brain may explode.
At this point, the Angels are really very close to being the Dodgers.
1) Great starting pitching? Check.
2) Great bullpen? Check.
3) Sucky offense, highlighted by over-the-hill veterans signed to a lame and really expensive contract that guarantees playing time no matter how bad they are? Check.
4) Highly touted position players still sufficiently young that they're having a hard time finding their game at the major league level? Check.
